  • If they've brought some good into the world
...now who was it who got the trains to run on time in germany in the 30's?

Certainly not racists, who ran the German economy into the ground during the 1930s.

I obviously recognise the joke, but there's too much of a danger that someone could take you seriously.

  • Everyone is forgetting how to spell Savile. It's easy though, just remember he was vile.

  • Shit, there was me remembering he was a French town.

  • When I heard that a famous astrologer was dead, I feared for Mystic Meg. Happy to hear she is still alive.

Patrick Moore? If he has been any good, he would have seen it coming.

  • I heard it was Russel Grant RIP
Killed in a game of 'fat-boy conkers'
    alongside James Corden RIP

  • I find this quite sad "where he today passed on, in the company of close friends and carers and his cat Ptolemy."
    Did he have no family?

  • I wonder if the cat understands the gravity of the situation?

  • RIP Jacintha Saldanha.

    Repped.

  • RIP Jacintha Saldanha.

    This x 100

    So unbelievably sad.

  • I find it hard and perhaps harsh to judge a person on just on facet of their being. Patrick Moore expressed questionable opinions on other people, but on the other hand he did bring an area of education to the masses. I don't do the former, but then I contribute next to nothing to society or the furtherment of mankind's understanding of the universe in which we live. I don't think an absence of prejudice alone is enough to qualify me as a good person. Such binary views of the world do more to harm us than to benefit us.

This isn't to suggest that good deeds may absolve the bad, but then again, the opposite isn't really true either.

Rest in Peace Sir Patrick because you worked hard and achieved much. The rest should be easy to forgive and set by the wayside, for it too has passed.

I don't buy this at all. No one's looking to qualify you as a good person on your lack of prejudice (really?) alone, so you can put that to one side to start with. Moore's opinions weren't "questionable", they were racist and full of hate. And he used his position as a public figure to get an audience for them. You can forgive him because you weren't the target of his vile invective, and because you don't suffer abuse and discrimination on a daily basis, which is given a degree of respectability by the views of a cuddly old establishment cunt like Patrick Moore.

Apparently so. Maybe even live ones too if they work hard and achieve stuff?

    Joker

  • RIP Jacintha Saldanha.

Indeed. The media hounding of her to her death and then acting all smug about it is disgusting. Apparently the two radio presenters in Australia are now being hounded remorselessly as the media salivate after their first kill and hope for more. The media turned a puerile prank into a tragedy.

  • And before you all pile in saying how awful the prank was, just think back to numerous television prank shows that you have watched and enjoyed.

The problem here was not the prank but the media reaction to it.

  • The way BBC Radio 4's Today Programme was eulogising over Moore this morning, you have to believe that it is only a matter of days before the allegations emerge.

  • He was also a misogynist

  • I was on his christmas card list for a few years, I guess he did't know I'm black

  • Or a woman...

It does seem that allegations will appear.. Later rather than sooner.

Met and interviewed him on ITV2 years ago.. He spat as he talked and had terrible dandruff..

  • RIP Jacintha Saldanha.

    Royal hit?

  • I have a theory Max Clifford ordered her death to get him out of the spolight

  • I have a theory that Max Clifford engineered his own arrest to get him into the spot light.

  • RIP Dr Alex Moulton

  • Amazing designer and bike aficionado, he will be sadly missed by a lot of people in the cycling community.

    RIP
