Freecycle: Workbenches

Hi

Work in school in W London that has recently replaced its DT workbenches. As a consequence there are about 5 that are going to be thrown. If anyone is interested in a workbench, they are about 5 foot by 3 with 4 vice in each corner. As you can imagine, we'll used but still look functional. Plenty of graffiti to read on work surfaces. Pictures later.

I remember we got new workbenches at school and there were signs up saying anybody caught graffitiing them would be severely punished.

First day I got caught just after finished a cracker that said 'ANDY JOHNSON SUCKS COCK'. I carved it in with a compass and had just finished inking the carved letters when I got caught. I had to read it out loud to the class. Andy was sitting right next to me. Because of the ink and the depth of the carve they never got it out.

Wish I'd seen this before the Dibs-apocalypse.

If anyone drops out I would happily pick one of these up, along with any lab-bench worktops that happen to be knocking around.

Oh well, at least I did manage to catch a beautiful lab bench that is now a coffee table in our sitting room. Chap at the school carefully cut each leg down so it's now knee-high. Graffiti is minimal and polite, perhaps not surprising as it was a GDST school in Sutton, and the chewing gum came off the underside quite easily.

Slight change as having spoken to the caretaker about these. I've now been told that the school want to try and sell them. Suggested donation about £15 per bench. If people are still up for this, let me know...

I'm interested in taking one of these and totally happy to pay. Only question... What size is the top? Standard sheet of wood (244 x 122cm) by any chance? From the picture they look smaller. Thanks!
