• Rider down, at this junction at approx 9am (when I rode past). Did not see what happened. Bike on the pavement, Boots lorry stopped, roads closed, and paramedics/police on the scene. Hoping for good news.

  • Fingers crossed for a fast and full recovery.

  • I went past this at about 8:50am (not sure of exact time), the rider was being attended to by paramedics.

Been looking out for updates, really hope the person was/is ok.

  • I arrived just after it happened. Massive Boots HGV. It was a woman who was hit (30s I would say), riding a Scott mountain bike. The bike was utterly destroyed. Both wheels shredded, frame flattened, BB axle sheered off with crank still attached. Suspension forks broken in half. Never seen a bike trashed that badly.

I too am hoping for the best. She was conscious, and appeared to have suffered leg injuries, but obviously could be many other things too. She didn't seem in too much distress luckily, but that could have been the shock.

Nasty narrow junction there where the road splits and there is a feeder lane from bus lane. I believe bikes are supposed to stay out of the bus/ feeder lane which always strikes me as a bit counter-intuitive. There is a CCTV camera right in front of where it happened so the police should be able to figure out what went wrong. Didn't seem to be any direct eyewitnesses. Fingers crossed.

I hope she makes a speedy recovery.

  • Hope rider heals well and fast!
    Best wishes.

  • I hope the rider is ok.
This crash is at the same place as last year's fatality:
