I bought this lovely Longstaff audax frame off another forumer recently, I plan to build it up to replace my current Wilsons cycles audax/road bike which has clearances that are too small for full length mudguards, top tube that is a tad too long for my liking, and rear dropout spacing too small for a modern wheelset.
The new frame has a shorter top tube to suit my short torso (53cm CTC compared to 56cm on the old frame)
130mm rear dropouts
Lots of braze ons for mudguards, rear rack, frame pump some chain holder braze ons (lol) two bottle cages, and has very lovely lug designs and nice chromed dropouts and right chainstay.
It is a thing of beauty.
Planning to move most things over from the old bike (Brooks, seat post, crankset, brakes if deep enough drop, front/rear mech)
May get spotter bars™ and a 100mm stem to replace the current bar stem set up((specialised shallow bend and 80mm stem, or may just swap them across and see how it feels initially.
Shopping list:
New wheelset, 23mm wide rims dynamo front hub, 10 speed rear.
Front = SON28 hub w/ exal lx17 rim
Rear = Ultegra 10spd w/ exal lx17
May look into getting a silver/chrome frame pump to fit the braze ons I now have for one, although will have to find out if they're actually good functionally, as I have a small pump that works brilliantly and It would be a shame to lose function just for what may look a lot nicer.
Any comments/suggestions etc more than welcome, anything you think I should/shouldn't do etc
