  • Finalised!
Added Modolo Brakes and Selle San Marco (No Brooks yet).

In the meantime I am now stripping my Olmo and needed a bike for my rides so I purchased a Bianchi C2C Via Nirone 7 Veloce.

  • And another fine example of the breed. Actually still fiddling with this before using it for commuting. Came with bare frame and crankset / bars. May desticker the wheels. Should I keep the original bars? Dunno really will see how I go...like the thought of keeping the original outline at least.

  • If you find the bars uncomfy then change them... comfort over performance in my opinion (tt bikes don't count). If they are fine, keep them. Its tempting to upgrade bits and bobs but its better saving for something nice and big.

  • What BB did you use? I guess you didn't run into the 26 threads per inch Raleigh BB threading joy then.

  • No, I used a standard 68mm Shimano sealed unit, worked a treat.

  • That's handy. I like the finished bike too. It's got that subtle, understatedly elegant feel about it. ;-)

How old is the bike, BTW?

  • I think it's around 1990. It rides an absolute treat too, I really enjoy the feel of it, very responsive and snappy on the acceleration and feels very agile, yet sturdy on the downhills. I feel like I could ride it all day long and smile. The only real problem is that there are quite a few hills around here and the ratio is a little harsh but hey, that's what the Bianchi is for. My aim is to use it for recreation and nipping to the shops/pub etc. I may well just bite the bullet and train the old legs up on the hills though, cant hurt :)

  • What ratio did you end up with? Curious if ended up with same as me. As for bars on mine I find myself strangely attracted by shiny things...

  • what about the stuck seatposts ?

  • Ah yeah, I got the stem out with your method, thanks for that, but the Carbon Seatpost into the Alu frame is stuck rigid and I dont really want to put any pressure on it. It is the right height for me, so I may just leave it until the point comes where I either break it, or it comes loose.

48:18, which is fine I suppose but I have some steepish hills around me and they make my thighs hurt :)

I will obviously man up with them though and soon enough they will be my bitch.

  • Nice one, I think I ended up with 42:16.

  • Hey all, I ended up with a pair of Remerx Sunbow rims on my bike, I'm not familiar with them at all - anyone know about these, what they're worth etc??

  • Well the 27.2 seatpost arrived today. It didn't fit in at all. I thought it might be that the tube was crimped in a bit, so I opened it out fully and still no joy, so I took my 27.0 post from my Olmo and that didn't fit either. So, any ideas on the size?

    Edit
I done gone bought me a vernier.

    I'm pretty sure mine was a 26.8
