44/17, lae, Oswald and fiona66 - thank you for getting back to me with all this.
I'll go for the penetrating oil, tapping and wiggling today after the rugby, and report back. I tried pushing in by hand yesterday - so far no good.
But encouraging to hear that the clamps should be a floating/cam system.
Screwing the bolt in from the other side caused the extra extension shown in one half of the clamp.
Does this information bolster any repair solutions?
