Not sure that this style will get a street outing, but I must say I am tempted.
On long l rides I've started using a pair of toestraps to prevent my feet pulling my shoes open when skidding on big descents, but this would be even better. Not ideal for urban riding, but this is the slave thread...

Yes he does use straps, don't know where that article got that from look here, it shows him using straps in every picture.

Also this is how I'm going to do it when my dremel arrives.
