  • foundation and rogue seem to be quite well received on coffeeforums

have ordered 2 of each plus 1 winter blend and 1 bright note.

will likely grab another bag of red brick as back up but that lot should see me through xmas (delivery on the 10th).

Thanks for the headsup. I've got some bright note and winter blend on the way.

  • can you freeze beans without ruining the flavour and whatnot?

I believe so, yes, but some will argue!

Cheers Hatbeard for the discount code. Ordered Revelation, Winter, Rogue and Foundation.

Not sure about the French Vanilla, but their standard blend ain't half bad.

    This really confuses me.

  • At that new place in Kentish Town West they serve Square Mile flat white in small glasses. It feels and tastes wrong. What would be an argument for them to get medium sized cups?

  • You asking them to?

  • Afternoon All,

Longtime lurker on the thread and wanted to pick your brains for some knowledge on a potential upgrade if that’s cool!

Currently got the De’Longhi below. Was my first foray into coffee machines along with a porlex grinder and it’s done the job but seems to struggle lately. Looking to upgrade to something better with a budget of around 200.

    http://www.delonghi.com/uk_en/products/ec152cd/

Have read the thread countless times and the Gaggia Classic seems to get positive reviews and is on budget.

In eejit’s terms though I just want to be sure I understand the differences between machines, and that for the money I’m getting an improvement on what I’ve got (as well as one that I can notice). Comparing something like the Classic to my current machine, are the main benefits the portafilter and solenoid valve?

I’ve checked out the Which? report on coffee machines and the below got a good review. Anybody had one of these or any thoughts on it?

Any thoughts and advice would be awesome as learnt so much from this thread already.

    Cheers all,

    John.

  • ^Get the Gaggia Classic from Phillips linky above as you won't get any new that is better for £200, only second hand.

I don't know the place but if they're not pulling decent shots and steaming good milk then nothing's gonna taste right, whatever they pour it into.
How small do you mean? I wouldn't want a flat white to be more than about 6oz (~180ml), but yeah glass = latte really.

There's more to it than that. Consistent and correct pressure. Consistent and correct temperature during the brew.

The Classic is great for the money.

    Gaggia Classic £125

wow! good find! i was thinking about getting one of these, I may have no choice but to invest now...

The coffee was good but any argument that they should pour it into a medium cup and not a glass was lost.

  • I'm tempted to buy one of those discounted classics to put in the loft in case mine ever breaks.
