I hate them because they're fucking shit, and I don't need to listen to them to know that. I promise you 100% I am right.
I promise you that statement makes you look like a fucking idiot.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAANYWAY, albums we like...

This seems just a tiny bit silly.
Sure, Alt-J / their label were foolish for not letting Simon Price into the gig but your point above is in the same ballpark, no?
Simon Price just wanted to form an opinion based having listened to the band; good or bad. You seem to have formed an opinion based on your perception of them based on their name and the fact that they have money (do they?) without having listened to them.
Whilst Simon Price wrote a fair, balanced & professional account of this and his subsequent experience of them playing live, you've just gone off on some mental blogger hate rant. You just come off as childish.

Kendrick Lamar -- Good Kid, M.A.A.D City
Not normally my thing, bad language, and I wouldn't let my kids listen, but a good album
This. And also +1 to Alt-J.
My other nominations:
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!
Purity Ring - Shrines (although they are horrifically boring live)
Sharon Van Etten - Tramp -

Deftones - Koi no yokan
Good choice, but IMO the new Converge LP '***All We Love We Leave Behind' ***totally rocks and is for me the release of the year.

Sorry, I forgot that music journalism had to be deadly serious. Not that my blog is anything other than deadly serious you understand.
Anyway, can anyone name any bands doing something genuinely new and interesting? Maybe who released a damn fine record in 2012?
It doesn't have to be serious, but then just don't expect anyone to take you seriously.
I'm fairly certain of what reaction you were trying to get from both the pieces but you also seem genuinely surprised by mine and Tom's responses.

What do you make of the Future of the Left album, probably the only decent album of the year?
Haven't heard it so couldn't say, will check it out though. To be honest I listen to a lot less guitar music these days than I used to, my interest is more in electronic/experimental music right now as I find it more interesting, I cant say I wholly disagree with your frustration at the state of 'indie' and new guitar based music

I've got a massive delivery of beef for the Favourite album of 2012 thread, who wants to sign for it?

A little tip for you. If you want to read something and be have a positive experience then read a good quality bit of music journalism. If you want to know whether you like a band then listen to them. Try youtube, or myspace or spotify or bandcamp, or the radio, or go to a gig. HTH.
!?
Isn't this what myself and Tom have been saying? You haven't listened to them yet have posted a childish and pointless rant.
You're more than welcome to do this but just don't be surprise when people think it's shit. -

Aw come on, there's been some cracking LPs this year!

Teengirl Fantasy, Egyptian Hip Hop, GOAT, Moo Duo

Django Django - was that this year? A couple of decent tracks on that - not sustained across the length though
-
• #38
New Girls Aloud next year!

Makes me giggle when people mention Egyptian hip hop, wierd that my highschool mates are in a band that people know about
Also, I really don't understand how people can slate artists so heavily without listening

Swing Lo Magellan is very high on my list. The Dirty Projectors have constantly innovated and are genuinely different, if that's really the only criteria of something good.
They're also fantastic live. This was my favourite track when they played at the Roundhouse this year:

^ not from the same gig (obvs).

They played in Hackney on Friday night, I had tickets but didn't go as I fell asleep in my armchair

I really want to like the Swans album but after 3 spins it's just not ticking my prostate

I watched them play their first gig and lost interest as they're not my kind of music, good friends still, I just don't tell them I'm not a fan..

Sharon Van Etten - TrampI liked the Godspeed record but it wasn't wholly up to scratch with previous work I thought, have enjoyed all the Van Etten I've heard but haven't picked it up yet

Then it very much sounds like I need them in my life.

They're rubbish. I've not heard them.

FOTL new one is quite synthy as well as guitary. They're angry, political, up-beat, clever, and don't entirely sound much like anyone else.
Nice, they remind me quite a lot of Lost Sounds

Jeez is having a serious moment here, shut him down before it's too late, hippy

'Edge' isn't a prerequisite for me so I'm not sure I can satisfy you there

The new Black Dice LP is pretty edgy I guess
I dont give a shit what you think, I might bother reading your tedious opinion if you actually listened to them rather then judge them from the off. Your posts pretty much sum up everything i despise about 'blog culture'.
