• Those Brooks saddles on eBay are for sale, it is not what they will sell for.

On average £100 +£10 for each saddle is too steep IMO but what do I know.

Hopefully for you someone will be doing a period Restoration and need these.

Good luck with the sale and I hope you don't get nerged too much.

    Unsubscribing.

  • Somehow it is your uncle I feel sorry for.

  • How much are the stems please?

  • Matt black Mavic stem: 85

    Chrome Mavic stem 45

  • @rw101 In fact I'm selling for his son who always worked with my uncle in the shop, and I'm selling at his price, he knows the value of this. The deal was, I'm selling his price online => I can take whatever i want.
so don"t worry, the memory is safe. And I'm not doing charity! I think his price is fair, but fair doesn't mean cheap.

  • Undibs the stem. Good luck with the sale

  • I think this thread is fair, but fair doesn't mean worth the scroll.

  • undibs saddle - too expensive

  • I think this thread is fair, but fair doesn't mean worth the scroll.

    this. I am out.

  • this. I am out.

go to Bike Zone opposite the Student Union, talk to Neil, abuse him until he gives you a deal

  • well they are £88 in my mail order shop, and brand new, and postage is free and if it breaks I can send it back, so I will undibs on 6, as it is about double what I would pay for a saddle that has been lying about for 30 years, with the leather possibly becoming brittle.

I've got a couple of 70s / 80s Beooks saddles that I think are superior quality to the current production - maybe it's just wishful thinking, but the hide seems better. And the badges are different, of course.

Yeah these are 'optimitstically' priced, but as the op said, that price seems to be euros.

  • Too rich for my blood.
    Best of luck mate.

  • [QUOTE=Skully;3267143] but the hide seems better.

you are right skully brooks had to change their leather after bse crisis !

  • True, I read on several forums that old brooks were higher in quality.
Btw, the Brooks N° 8 is sold.

  • I've got one 80's brooks team pro and one current, and they're miles apart. The leather on the 80's is much thicker and seems to be of higher quality. It's 25-30 years old but looks better than the new one.

Didn't pay anywhere near the prices here though, but I got a bargain

  • So, um, how much do you or your uncle or whatever want for the black Mavic stem?
