I was confused at first... like with many I was not sure the was a good idea. But this is turning out really, really nice. The paint job is excellent and will look lovely with all this silver. Looking forward to this!

Those forks are a treat! I would never have thought they would look that good when finished, I was just expecting a bracket to be brazed on, not those tapped cylinders and fillet brazed fins. It certainly looks a lot stronger now, I'll be interesting to see how that neat bit of steampunk engineering holds up in use. No pulling stoppies though.

top draw stuff here lad, bar the paint, the bike wasn't that great when you got it. Sone people are a bit too quick to judge.

The bike is built. Everything came together pretty well for a build of this type. ie nothing was touching that was not supposed to be :)
One thing that had not occurred to me, but is very obvious in hindsight, is the heel clearance issue I have from running the gear cable along the chainstay from the Sturmey Archer hub (my heel on the drive side just knicks the gear cable). As I want to keep the current cable routing, the answer may be to run a crankset with a wider tread. I will probably run a Shimano 600 EX crankset (they are a very slight low profile crank) a wider bottom bracket with the chainring on the inside of the spider. There are lots of crank options but I like the way the older Shimano 600 EX cranks look. For now I have clamped a small cable guide onto the chainstay (not in pics) to bring the cable towards the frame.
The bike will also have clipless and new tyres (the current ones are 28c from the parts bin) when it is in commuting mode -

You really can't just weld a disc tabs on any fork unless you beef up the fork.

Why bother? I'd say a new tt would be preferable.

As fantastic as that ideas is, it's extremely limiting not being able to fit it in tight spot.
I'm still overly concern about the disc brakes on thin walled fork, especially with the twisting force it'll received, this picture should speak volume;

it came out great but I still not convinced that this fork can handle the force that the disc caliper will put into it. It seems like he only added the caliper bosses and that's that.
