Strange, I've seen the Chelsea-fashionista-yummy-mummy-army sipping on java there many times...
We went to Megan's over the road - lots of rah-rah-yummy-mummy-rich-daddy-army there.

I got an Aeropress for my birthday yesterday and picked up some Cap Colombia beans from Monmouth to try out in it. Fuck me, it's a beautiful thing.
Using it inverted with 18g grounds and 180g water, 50s bloom and 30s plunge.
That shit tastes good.
Any top tips for a newbie?

As a general rule, tend to brew darker espresso-style beans using the faux-espresso method (espresso grind, 30 odd seconds brew with water volume at "2"), and brew the lighter stuff like you might do for a typical filter (coarse for minutes).
I re-use the filter papers a few times which some people seem to disagree with. They don't last as long with finer grinds.

Not sure if it's due to Hasbean or the PO, but last few orders (including ongoign one) aren't exactly whizzing their way here First Class as per postage. Ordered 18th, allegedly shipped 20th still nowt with todays post. Had to chase up last two orders also.
Anyone else experiencing a similar first world problem?

Does anyone have any experience with mail ordering from Union, and the sort of roast dates that you get? Ie. is the coffee nice and fresh?
Seems like a good deal if I buy maybe 750g.

think it's 3-5 days from roast but it says about it during the checkout process. you can also set your desired delivery date

aaargh just bought 500g of beans (which will last me a fair while) but quite like union coffee too. can you freeze beans without ruining the flavour and whatnot?
also, if i wanted a coffee machine, is a gaggia classic the one to go for? (ignoring budget for the moment...)

It's a great machine, you really can't go wrong... Look out for the best deals on Amazon...
It is a great shop. Interesting selection of beans and they sell the Baratza Virtuosa grinder for around £170, which I think is a good deal for a great grinder. Friendly and helpful staff too. They changed their opening hours - hope that tdoesn't mean that they are struggling.
