As a general rule, tend to brew darker espresso-style beans using the faux-espresso method (espresso grind, 30 odd seconds brew with water volume at "2"), and brew the lighter stuff like you might do for a typical filter (coarse for minutes).
I re-use the filter papers a few times which some people seem to disagree with. They don't last as long with finer grinds.
