From CP...
Speaking of SS-winter-rides. Got this resprayed 1991 BJ CX Reynolds 531c on eBay for 100 gbp incl. shipping.
Built with Mavic Aksium I got off my geared Empella CX (70 gbp bought used), which I am going to upgrade with new Campagnolo Khamsin (on sale in Denmark at moment).
Got the saddle and conversion kit from a fleemarket held in Copenhagen this weekend for 10 gbp .
The tyres are Kenda, but I would like to upgrade to Challenge grifos og fangos as I think tanwalls will compliment the Burned orange color.
I found the bar tape in a dumpster and will likely change that for something darker when it wears out.
Cinelli stem was 15 gbp used, bars free from a friend and headset and seatpost came with the frame.
The Frogglegs I had laying around, but I will change them when I get some money...
All in all a great ride for ca. 230 gbp.

Won't let me embed the image.
Also, I searched "fyxo cx" (as in Fyxomatosis cyclocross) and got A LOT of gay porn... even with safe search on.
Weird.

Why is the Steamroller a SSCX?
To me if a bike has one speed and can take largish/knobbly tyres it becomes an SSCX.
It doesn't matter what brakes it has (canti, mini V, discs, caliper or even none)A Steamroller is perfect and what I have used previously and using again now. And I don't just go off road now and again, I ride it off-road for >50% of the time on every ride I do.

Felt is definitely one of the coolest OEM SS bike out there. They should have made a disc version though.
-
• #246
Disc would have been great, but would be heavier than a geared bike with cantis.
I'd probably go disc front, cantis rear.

• #247
Of course you would. :)
Prolly un-matching crank arms too. -

And never less than 3 inches of scobles.
