Chainstays acquired. I might use these seatstays too as they're already bent save me trying to bend the old ones.
I think I have friday off so hopefully some progress will be done then.

Well, I've got a jig done to finish this, no steel to make the dropouts though and no money to buy the steel. Hopefully I can get something for free so that I can finish this soon.

Hi there buddy, just noticed you were in Cardiff. What's the bike polo like? Worth coming down to?
Cheers!

It's good fun. Were playing down in Canton now. Regular Wed/Thurs sessions and sometimes weekends.

Come down sometime.

How much steel plate do you need and what thickness?
-
• #34
5mm thick, two pieces around 75mm x 75mm

I think I can find some to donate
-
• #36
That'd be cool if you don't mind sending them.

I'll search around today, I'm sure I can find some in the scrap metal bin,
it will help me get motivated to get the welder out and finish my project too (: -

Nice one. What's your project?
-
• #39
Got some steel, pm me your address and I'll send it this afternoon
My project is an old schwinn cruiser that needs a little 'tig'ing' to finish, its on here somewhere in CP from a while ago -

keep this going, man, i really like it! (and i'm stealing that jig design!)

Boom.
Not welded yet, hoping to get it done tomorrow.

I can't get the welder to lay down a tidy bead so there's been no progress. Every time my brother uses it it goes funny, I don't know what he does. I don't have any money atm so I can't even spend money on the easily changeable bits.

Not even on hubs?
-
• #44
I blame your brother ;)

While not being amazing welds I know from past experience that they'll be strong enough.

You forgot to stick them to the frame.

That's happening tomorrow. Had to go shopping an that.

I did this
Then this -
Needs a seatclamp, headset and an adapter from 1" quill to ahead. Still some tidying to be some around the dropouts but it's pretty much done.

A few more details -
If I put the wheel right forward in the dropouts the tyre touches in some spots (reminds me I need to true the wheel.) But that's on a 1.9" tyre. I'll probably change it soon.
I went for this style of dropout as I live so far away from the courts it's handy for me to have gears. But then for tournaments it's better to have the horizontal dropouts to tension a chain.
I had to give the seatstays a bend for tyre clearance so I thought I'd make it a little fancy and give it a second bend.

so awesome.
I have some but they're 80 girt. A bit too aggressive.
I think the Pompinos crack due to not enough heat being used in the crimping. I just need to bend my seatstays.
