just found a photo, but you can't really see it. the adapter sits on the qr axle (theres one for solid axles too) and moves the mudguard mount a few inches rearwards.

it might be a bit of a silly solution if you already have eyelets on the fork and it's a bit irritating if you have to remove the wheel.
