Thanks for all the comments.
Mark, I'm a tad over 6ft, also with long arms and legs, and you can see how much seatpost/stem I'm using. I think it should fit you nicely, by the sound of it. Of course you are welcome to test-ride the bike if you are prepared to come up to Suffolk. If not, I will be in London for the weekend of the 8th December, and I can bring the bike with me.

Really lovely bike Sam. If you ever decided to spit it, I would be very interested in the Zondas. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks. I wouldn't split unless there were buyers for everything though.

This is one of those bikes that comes up where I wish I knew someone who needed a bike so that I could recommend it to them. It's my size but I don't need another bike. So have a bump anyway!

Thanks. I am leaving the country on the 12th January 2013, and I won't be coming back for several years. I need it gone by then.

I would also consider straight-swapping the bike for a 5d mkII or a 5d mkI with a decent lens.

Would love to buy this but under orders from the missus to sell three of my stable before I buy. Or I could just kick her out...
-
• #21
kick her out, bikes don't tell you what to do :)

Okay. So nobody wanted to see the bike this weekend. My rock bottom price is £700. Not a penny less. It's just cost me over £1k to build it up, and it's barely been ridden since. I leave the country in the first week of the new year, so it needs to be gone before then. Any takers?

......want!
have a bump. If it's not gone in the next two weeks I'll take it

OK, this is the longest shot in the f-ing world, but this: http://http://www.lfgss.com/thread74387.html : do you still have any of it for sale?
Many apologies for thread-jacking :(
I built this bike up about a month ago, and have ridden it twice (less than 100 miles total) before the weather turned shite and the winter bike came out. It's pretty much my dream bike, but I've decided to go back to sea before the weather gets good again. I'm going to be sailing around Asia and across to South America over the next few years, so a bike isn't going to be very useful!
Here's a list of the spec, showing the money I've spent on building it up:
£230 -Somec Elite frameset, 56cm c-t, 55.5cm c-c. (Columbus Gara) original sale thread
£190 -Campagnolo Zonda wheelset
£220 -Most of the Campagnolo groupet (see details and photos below)
£25 -Veloce Italian thread BB (brand new)
£70- Record Headset (brand new)
£28 -Deda RS01 seatpost (27.2mm)(brand new)
£70 -Selle Italia Flite 1990 (brand new)
£15 -YBN 8 Speed chain
£30 -Record 8 speed cassette
£20 -ITM Anatomica bars (brand new)
£15 -Kalloy Stem (25.4mm clamp 120mm)
£12 -Fizik velvet bartape (brand new)
£30 -Cable set
£12 -Schwalbe long valve inner tubes
£0 -Vittoria Rubino tyres (I already had these in the shed)
So that's about £970+ I've spent on it, and I appreciate I'm not going to recover all of that, but I'd like to get as much as possible back, so my asking price is
£800ono£790ono, which I hope you can agree is reasonable.£700 for anyone who can buy it before 11th January 2013.Provisionally sold.Everything is in perfect working condition, and although it is cosmetically very good, it is not completely immaculate. It's a late 80s Somec, so it is fully chromed, then painted over the top. This makes the paint quite delicate, and considering this, it's in very good shape with only a few minor chips. The only notable scrape is visible in the photos, and is on the driveside decals, on the seat-tube. I have been in contact with someone in Australia who can supply a complete set of replacement frame decals for about £30 though. The chrome under the paint is 100% perfect, and it means the frame is completely protected from rust. The paint is beautiful: Pearlescent white with pink and purple airbrushed details.
Here are some more detailed photos of the bike, and the bits that make it:
Original sellers photos of the frame:
This is the bulk of the groupset:
8 speed record shifters, Chorus cranks and derailleurs and slightly more modern Athena callipers.
Here is the complete bike:
You really have to see the paint in the flesh to appreciate it. It's a thing of real beauty!
The bike has been 'put away for winter', and is in my dad's workshop, in Suffolk. I can deliver to London if the buyer is happy to split the cost of the train fare, or I can post internationally at the buyers expense.
Thanks,
Sam
