I love these frames. maybe 350 is a bit much considering the rust on the wheels, headset, saddle rails and chain, also considering the potential that the frame is condemned due to fused/rusted stuck seat post.
p.s a photo of the tubing decal on the seat tube would help as well. Assuming it's 531?

Rust on the wheels? Where? Chain has no rust on it either.
Yup, she's 531

Lovely, I think you'd get more than the asking price on eBay

Looks lovely. Worth every penny!

£350 is more than reasonable for this.......IMHO.
There are a lot of people who covet these frames, and this looks to be very original. Not my bag, but I can appreciate it.....

Yeah, I'd say £350 is totally reasonable for the full thing. If it doesn't sell here it might be worth putting it on CTC/Retrobike.

Bearing in mind this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/330819909835?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
went for £301 + £20 postage this week.
I'm no vintage bike geek, but it looks similar enough...
So for £350 you're getting a frame at just over market value, with groupset, wheelset and finishing parts thrown in gratis!

The real value is in determining whether its an Ilkeston SBDU built racing frame, built by Gerald O'Donovan and his assistants, or if its a 'copy' frame, built at the other Raleigh factory. The frame number will tell us. The Ilkeston frames are worth far more.

Serial number effects the price big time. What is it?

I have had it checked out before, and it's not one of the ones that goes for silly money, sadly...
However, nothing a sharpie won't sort out!

Still well worth the price. Wish someone would just buy it so I can stop thinking about it.

Back up for sale due to time-waster!
-
• #21
My commiserations on the time-waster!
My guess is a Worksop built frame which were very good......if it were Ilkeston built the serial number would start with SB.

Can you post some more photos, ex. the rear derailleur, the rust on the chain-stays, the small dent on the front-end? Also have you tried unstucking the seatpost?
Evening all.
Got a 57cm Raleigh Professional bike. Campagnolo ends, full gran sport set-up. As you can see it does have a few chips, rear stays have rusting from where a chain has rubbed, front end has a very small dent and scratch, plus the seatpost is fairly stuck, but other than these problems, it's a lovely bike, very very quick.
Would like to keep it all as one, but I could do with the money at the moment.
Looking for £350 posted.
