Loving this thread, as a non Londoner I'm getting to see some interesting areas of London that I would never normally see.
Keep 'em coming.

Old - Jewel Box house, east finchley. Can't find much on this now - strikes me as a bit of a mess. Wonder if it's derelict?
New - from one modernity to another - least this one has some life gathered inside; the show must go on.

There were people working outside it on Saturday so it isn't completely abandoned.

bah humbug and an emphatic harumph, tagzumped! I must have just missed you Howard.
Bit of a schlep up there and back from Vauxhall, thems the breaks if you dont upload on the spot. I have to rush back home, rummage for camera lead I've not used for months, resize pics, upload to photobucket, and stop the clock....takes about as long as it takes to build a house.
Agreed it looked not such a grand design from the outside but I guess the covered car has an owner so assume its not abandoned. Guessing game on the car? Looks like an old beemer to me.

My favourite bit was the 'trespassers keep out' sign scrawled on cardboard attached to the gate in the alley to the right of your photo. Looked propper post-apocalyptic with rainwater blowing off the roof and the rotted wooded support struts.
Guess this kind of design would work better in the Med...

Is 'Jewel Box House' its official name? I can only find one in Islington:

It's the name used on the grand design episode. I don't know if it actually has a name, I was just referring back to the original clue.

http://www.tonkinliu.co.uk/projects/camera-jewel-house/
It's a Liu..It was named the Camera Jewel house because one of the couple who owned it was a jeweler, and its surface is supposed to 'sparkle'. The studio at the far end also doubled as a camera obscura, since the other owner was a photographer..
The one in Islington confused me, too. Eventually I found the right address by searching the business address of the jeweler.
Edit: Does anyone else still find tags knowing they can't go get them?

It's really interesting how in under 12 years it's gone from being someones idea of a dream home to looking like a derelict.
I wonder how quickly they sold it and moved on?

So, where, exactly, is it?

Old, Hampstead Theatre...

New, not another fucking church.
A fucking church? What is this religion and where do I sign up?!
-
• #10020
The building hasn't been used for religion for more than 35 years

Just watched this - looks like quite a tortured build process. The structural elements of the building are wood, and it stands on support struts, so effectively there's a void beneath it. The concrete effect is rendering, and it was supposed to have a glass bead mix to create a jewel effect, but this was dropped because of rising costs.
I hope the main fabric of the building has weathered better than the gable at the front.

^^^^^ I see what you did there ...
Just ... so ... far ... away

There are so many deconsecrated churches that I reckon this clue is rubbish. I guess it might be a well-known one converted by a well-known person for a well-known new use... but I'm not going so far on a hunch. Or am I missing something, middleofnowhere? Any chance of a clue that might specify this deconsecrated church? Otherwise it's just 'Oh I know that place' or 'I don't know that place' /wiganwhinge

PS tell me if I'm missing a glaring clue!

Don't worry Skully, it's too far away for you too.
It has a link to the previous tag but I'll add more clues
when Will starts whingingif needed.
Easy to gooooogle - I could have got it today. Bah.
