best. richmond park
worst. kings rd. the bit with the very obvious cycle lanes. seen more accidents there than the rest of my commute combined. -

Worst: Having fireworks launched at you.
rocket propulsion to get you home - sounds good
Shaftesbury Avenue is great, riding down the centre dodging various forms of fucking idiot is hilarious fun.
totally true, it's a bit like Wipeout on the playstation

Best - Newington Butts/ Lower Borough High St, great for a bit of a fling at top speed.
Worst - King William St/Lombard St, because of all the utterly mental people flinging themselves between buses without looking.

All 20 miles of it, along seafront paths and quiet lanes, in summer, jealous?
-
• #107
Best: any summers morning, bright and early pootling through the lanes.
Worst: waking up in A&E with a monster concussion and a broken arm. -
• #108
Best - Long Lane from borough high street / dover street heading east. So smooth, fast.
Worst - Great Dover Street / Borough High street junction. Always caught by the quickly changing lights.

Best- another vote for Waterloo bridge southbound. So much fun on a good day.
Also good- Waterloo bridge northbound. Demonstrating this 'climbing' thing to Londoners.
Another positive- Thurlow road. More or less a mile, with only one set of pedestrian lights on it. Turning into it, finding someone on your wheel, and attempting a 1 mile TT to shake them.Bad- Elephant and Castle.

I wanna play!
Best: Westminster Bridge (or any Bridge except Vauxhall) for the sense of space
Worst: Anywhere where there's lots of red lights to stop at and nodders repeatedly RLJ past me, leaving me with nothing but a sense of defiant yet impotent RIGHTEOUSNESS. -

Best- going over the canals and seeing the narrowboats, makes me homesick but it's nice to see a little bit of home at the same time.
Worst- Green Lanes. My god no one knows how to operate in relation to others on that road. Cars, pedestrians, cyclists, all fully ignoring common sense. -

The Best: The days when the cruel insomnia and inexplicable early rise is rewarded by a crisp 28-Days-Later feeling this city is YOURS (and the delivery guys).
The Worst: The occasional guilt at doing a noob fuck up - crossing someones line etc...it happens

Work -
Best: Kennington Road between Oval and Lambeth North. Most people stay on the cycle superhighway to Elephant & Castle which I avoid like the plague.
Worst: Blackfriars Road from Southwark to the north side of the bridge, always a nightmare of traffic and traffic lights as I turn right towards Blackfriars station.
College -
Best: South down Marlborough Road, along The Mall then right round St. James's Park.
Worst: Trafalgar Square

^^ same except my worst is I go over Southwark Bridge and the south lights x-ing with Southwark St can get a bit Whacky Races and on the North side of the bridge the crossing with Uppper Thames St when people get funneled into the ped area

Conversely going over Southwark Bridge and flying through the pedestrianised bit is an absolute pleasure when I'm heading out East to see friends at the weekend.

London - Worst was always Angel / Best coming back home through DeBeauvoir.
NYC - Worst = Delancey Street in the morning, Best = Delancey Street in the evening.

Worst = Peckham Rye climb on the way home, last mile of my ten mile commute.
Best = South Carriage Drive sprint down to Albert Gate. Down in the drops, trying to trip that 'slow down' sign about half way down. -
• #118
Worst: London Bridge, the road surface sucks.
Best: The re tarmacked stretch of the Oxford Street, when that bit of road is empty it is a real joy to cruise down.

Best - Jamaica Road - no entry anytime bus lane, but relatively few buses = 18ft bike lane. Enough riders moving at a decent lick to get a bit of a pack going on.
+1 for Waterloo Bridge southbound, not on my route but I always enjoy that stretch when I take itWorst - Heading north from Russel Sq past Euston. Mental lane changes going on, and some HUGE potholes.
Or
King William St, from the north side of LDN Bridge to Bank. Loadsa buses, delivery wagons in the cycle lane, nose to tail congestion to pick through, scooters, awful awful road surface and suicide peds. Keeps you on your toes mind. -

.Hell yeah totally sucks around there (I live next door to Euston).

Best: Crossing the river at sunrise/sunset.
Worst: The climb from the Arsenal ground to Highgate Station.
