Please note that the brake calipers aren't Monoplaner, but D500, although they do look quite similar.
The arms of Monoplaners intersect each other and so might be said to operate on one geometric plane, hence the name; whereas the D500's arms are one on top of the other, in the conventional manner, so operate in two planes. The second D500 photo shows the difference most clearly.
Athena was equipped with Monoplaners in 1994 (when Chorus gained dual pivot brakes) and 1995 (when groupset names were added to components). The '94 version was fitted with one-piece brake pads, whereas Chorus had metal holders and wheel guides.

Hello
I have a beautiful Athena groupset for sale. The Condition is very good the rear mech shows the most wear with some damage to the cage from the chain slipping, monoplaner calipers and lever/hoods are excellent, seatpost could be polished but has almost no damage, front mech and chainset are both excellent. Gear shifters are not Athena to the best of my knowledge I think that the are Victory and are aero to be mounted on the downtube
Chainset is 172.5m m 53/42
£250 price drop £240
