I saw that and it made me smile. I think I will end up stealing this idea.
Like you though, I'm too much of a hoarder to throw away anything that might prove useful later.
Mind you, there are always those bars, you know, the ones you know in you heart that you are NEVER going to use. Like the oversized Specialized alloy drops my friend gave me - I hate using drops, and they are completely the wrong shape to cut into bullhorns. I could use them.
And there is also the old heavy chromed steel stuff that comes off vintage frames (got at least 4 of those in the Man Shed in various states of rebuild at the moment). Some of it is worth saving, but some is just too lumpy to reuse and might make a better ornament than take up space in the parts bin.
