Wanted: Gazelle head-tube badge

Posted on
  • Does anyone have one in good condition or know where I can get hold of one? I've tried writing to Gazelle in Holland but they use transfers now so no longer have proper badges. It's for a restoration job.

  • Hilary Stone, maybe? Haven't got an email address for him, think he's hilary_stone on t'Bay...
Seem to remember someone on the forum picking up a whole load of headbadges up last year, may be worth a search...

  • Thanks chap. Can't find Hilary Stone on fleabay but have found a group on flikr via a thread on here and have requested info/leads from them. :)

  • i did see a headbadge only a week or two back on e-bay it may still be there

  • Also Jos, he makes regular trips to his motherland, if indeed he doesn't stock them now. PM him.

  • @dicki, damn must have missed it, not there now.

@50/14 good point I'll give him a shout.

  • If you know where one exists or someone who has the relevant bike, I can tell you how to take a mould off it and cast a new one at home for free.

  • mr fiddy has the relevant bike.

  • aroogah got 1 too.

  • http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/NICK_AT_LLOYDS/decals.htm try this place they seem to have a lot of the old stickers

  • @Ratboy - thanks have sent them a mail as there was nothing on the list, worth a punt

@50/14 cheers, if Tynan's method is non-invasive (highly unlikely ;) ) then maybe I could take a cast if all else fails?

@Tynan - come on then mister, spill the beans. How do I take a cast? I'd still have the problem though of the badge being printed and not sculpted. Unless I can find someone with one of the really early badges that were sculpted. Like this v:

I happened to see a very sad ladies pink gazelle with a flat front tyre and a faded front basket in Parsons Green Lane today locked to a lamp post, looked pretty dead. It had my identical badge. I could leave a note with your 'phone no. I'm sure she wouldn't miss it.
