While I have no sympathy for cyclists getting words or a £30 fine for RLJ etc, is anyone else quite concerned about this?
The Met must be pissing away money here while going on about their restricted budget and aren't investigating collisions outside their doorstep (recent discussion on dangerous drivers thread >>>>>>>>>). For example, has anyone see them bust a driver/motorcyclist at one of these crackdowns?
Absolutely agree that there's an absolute fuck-ton of better things for coppers to be doing.
But in these times of cuts, isn't snapping 10 cyclists every half hour with a £30 fine quite a good way of making money? Assuming the £ gets pumped right back into the police force (which I don't know a thing about). Even if just to get crime stats up and get more funding (????) it makes sense.
