  • Very cool. It looks to me like some of it is brazed and some of it is welded. Is the bottom bracket TIG welded?

Just started the cleanup on my first frame build. Getting the excess brass off is going to take ages!

  • I know I'm going against the grain on this, but I think it should be painted.

If not though I would go for a high polish. On my track frame I tried to get the rear driveside stay to as high a shine as I could, and it looked good.

  • i think i'm going to paint the frame...

  • Wise choice .. Like Hugo7 I'm going against the grain and say paint it.

  • also pro-paint

  • today's gift for my steel road project

  • .

  • That is looking lovely, any pics of the full bike?

  • not yet
    i'm waiting for the BB
i'll set the bike with silver wheels, silver crankset, brown saddle, brown tape, silver headset and silver stem.
As soon as i have the bike ready i'll share some pics of it ;-)

  • any thoughts about the color theme for this road project?
i think i'll set the bike with Sram Force/Red components.
I will leave the carbon fork as it is now

  • fluro is in atm

  • fluoro fadez

    humm! any exemple?

  • Nice

  • hummm!

  • Just seen this thread, bit late I know. noca you madman, looks great.
Raw finish, shallow wheels and modern group would result in a 100 degree hottie build.
Do what you want, you made it for goodness sake.

  • i'm counting the €€€ jambon :-)
the ideal for me is to set the bike with Sram RED and Zipp 202 wheels
...so that might take a while :-(

i understand what you say about raw finish. But steel does not works very well with so many oxidation (a local problem).
I know i'll have a raw bike someday but i think it will not be this one. But i can't decide about the paintjob without having the components. At first i will have to use the ROLF wheels.

i love this kind of degrade...

...but i'm not sure it will work something like that.

  • ^ That is a lovely paint finish.

If having it raw is an obvious disadvantage, then it would be silly to do it.
After all the time and effort put it you'd want to look after it. Look forward to how this project progresses.

  • s'inspiring stuff.

  • Looks really good.

  • Good job pal!
