Frame Spraying, Stripping and Painting

Posted on
  • Hi guys

I have a proper airgun setup and do quite a bit of work spraying, mostly for myself and for friends that have bike frames and motorcycle parts they want spraying.

So do get in touch with me if you want a change of colour scheme. I've worked on all sorts of bikes so I'm quite happy stripping down and building up afterwards if needs be...

I'm also available on here for anyone that has any questions regarding paintwork so please ask if you have any! I've also done a fair bit of welding and fabrication so again ask if you have any questions I'll try to help out where I can!

    Cheers

  • are you based in London?

  • People will be asking for examples of your work ? Do you have photo's / a website ?

  • and then someone will ask about prices. how much?

  • subs

  • oooooohhhhh NICE WORK!

  • i presume you've seen the paint porn thread Radders
some pretty nice work in there

  • Thanks for the responses guys, I know I'm new on here and don't mean to be too intrusive or come across as someone just out to tout some services!

Yeah the paint porn thread is way out of my league... Some gorgeous work on there.

I'm by no means a pro but I use proper 2k paint and can get a good solid finish. I don't have a site yet (trying to persuade my brother to build one for me as he's a web developer) and I've got some pictures of some previous work which I'll post up when I'm back at my work computer tomorrow.

As for pricing, it depends on the job, how much prep is required, how many colours required, what finish etc... And if you bring me a whole bike or just a frame as it obviously takes time to dismantle and reassemble.

If you want a proper nice job doing like the ones in the paint porn thread then it would be best to go and see a professional... But if you want to go with a more basic colour scheme, or take it back to bare metal and polish it up for example, I'll see where I can help out.

Also happy to advise anyone having a go at it themselves as mentioned above! :)

  • And sorry yes based in west London

  • Do you have headset removal/installation tools?

  • For a threadless headset? Yes. But I know some people like to chamfer the edges before re-installation of the headset, I don't have the tools for that unfortunalely, but I can press the bearings back in.

Hope that answers your question Vesalius.

Here is one of my cycles that I sprayed - Sorry picture isn't great

And here is a motorcycle, Parts of which I resprayed to match the existing paintwork. See if you can spot which sections I did ;)

  • Where are you based?

  • Do you do pantogaph colouring in?

I may have a job (or 2) for you (and based in W10)...What's your turnaround time and cost? Both frames single colour (though would like them nice and deep and glossy) but with a fair bit of panto detailing.

  • Based in West London Meridimus.

Can't do engraving sadly but I can colour in existing pantograph work.

  • sorry i didn't understand your answer to vesalius, does that mean you wouldn't be able to remove a threaded headset?

If you can then I will definitely have a frame that needs painting :)

  • Hi robinmarine. I can indeed remove threaded headsets, so long as they're not corroded or jammed up in some other way. What I cannot do is re-fit the bushings used in threadless headsets as I don't have the specialist tool that enables you to drive the bushings back in at a perfectly straight angle...

Send me a PM with some details of what you want doing and I'll see if I can help you out :)

  • How about cottered cranks? I got this baby to redo and am West-side too.
When you say west do you mean Ealing, or Nottinghill?

  • Cottered cranks?!? Old skool!
Might be fused in if it's old... You tried a few things to get them off already with no luck?

I'm based in Isleworth. What sort of paint scheme do you have in mind?

  • Yeah bitchin' cottered cranks, haven't tried tbh. Will do this weekend, see what I can do.
    It's for a friend, and she wants "Pea-Green" :)

  • Hey Radders,
thanks for your message - appreciate your self-critique. my search continues then:)

  • No problem 1000archangels. As I've said in the thread I'm no professional but I do it as a hobby and thought why not try and help people out around London who want some basic(ish) paintwork done...

Mands - pea green, very nice! Yeah have a go at knocking out the cotter pins and splitting the bottom bracket yourself, I'm sure there's someone on here who knows how to deal with them, that might have some advice for you :)

  • Yeah thanks! I'm "talking" to Sheldon... Hopefully will be able to sort it out, and will get in touch!

  • Was working on a motorbike chassis this weekend, spraying several coats of clear lacquer... Will post some pics up later!
