  • Does anyone have access to the latest version of the LCC magazine and Zoe Williams' column on RLJ'ing? Does anyone feel like scanning and sending to me.

Someone in my office got caught RLJ'ing the other day and is STILL banging on about it, like some sort of badge of honour which is getting boring. In the same breathe as boasting again this morning she also proudly stated how she'd never been done for speeding as speeding is a dick move sigh

  • This question may have been answered earlier in the thread, but if it hasn't:
If I am waiting at a red light, and I start when my light changes from red to orange, before my light changes to green, can I theoretically get done for red light jumping?

  • Edited for wrongness

  • Actually...

    Red
    Red plus Amber
    Green

The red plus amber phase is to prepare you to go. The green is the signal to go. Moving off on the red plus amber is an offence.

  • Quite amusing comments on road.cc

City of London Police does acknowledge that often, it is the behaviour of other road users that puts cyclists at risk, and has listed nine points for riders to be aware of to “keep your nine cycling lives.”

    Those are:

1 – Black cabs swerving to the kerb to pick up/drop off passengers

2 – Pedestrians stepping out into the road without looking (and most of us do it on occasion)

3 – Passengers hopping off or on Routemaster buses without looking

4 – Vehicles turning left across you – even more serious if it is a bus or truck

5 – Car doors being opened into your path

6 – Vehicle creepage at junctions

7 – Delivery vehicles parked in cycle lanes

8 – Drivers failing to indicate properly leaving everyone guessing

    9 – Vehicles doing impromptu U-turns.

    Bike Pure

  • Seems reasonable

  • That was a very strange bike that busted straight through the red second ped crossing on Shepherds Bush green the other day. 4 wheels, black, "Hilux" written on the back...

  • Massive dynamo under some metal at the front? I know that one.

  • Ah, must've been the new Toyota Hilux AUDAX model.. probably returning from LEL or something.

  • I just shouted RED at two police officers on horses who rode through a red light at the end of my road, they ignored me.

  • His mayoriness Boris shouting at red light jumpers on channel four's 'the last leg'.

  • i go through every red light i can just on general principal. And i've seen our Mayorness riding round town twice now and he has no right to tell anyone how to ride. So if anyone sees him, tell him i'm looking for him.

I've seen him rlj, I beleive the mail has pictures of him doing so in the past too... Wonder what changed his mind?

  • he stopped trying to impress the real fixie riders demographic, they overestimated our numbers and turnout. or something.

  • They (can this be unwittingly?) are also showing lots of motorised vehicles jumping the light, and near total disregard for the ASL.
