Even the Dolan PreCursa might be worth a look, the ones we have for hire in Glasgow are not bad at all and pretty much unbeatable on price.
There's also bargains to be had on the 2nd hand market if you stay away from steel and anything else that'll attract the hipster pound.

Dammit! That's £100 cheaper than I paid for my "special offer" bike a year ago. And therefore an absolute steal - I'd thoroughly recommend at that price.

you could always build something yourself, ride something that not everyone has.
would cost less than the Cinelli as well -

My only issue is my size, 6"5 and 104kgs. So I need a big strong bike.
That carbon bike looks great, thanks for your responses guys.

Ride at HH on a track bike through the winter??? I think you may find this Saturday will be the last until next spring.
If you can afford it go for the Planet X, but don't wait as you may well be disappointed.

I asked a few weeks back about winter training, and was told that the Saturday intermediate sessions will continue but only for those with their own bikes. Hopefully I'm not misinformed.
What do you mean, disappointed?

The offer could finish at any minute.

The calendar on their web site shows the intermediate sessions running through the winter from 1100-1230
http://www.hernehillvelodrome.com/calendar/That said they are planning to put up lights, install a new hard standing and 250 metre track in the infield too this winter. That might get in the way.

Just in case anyone wasn't aware, I notice the "wet weather policy" now goes into some detail about the conditions under which training sessions will still go ahead, especially:
"Our general rule, is as long as the rain is light or intermittent and the spray off the track isn't a problem sessions can go ahead. However, we do take certain precautions.
*"Inductions and novice sessions won't go ahead on a wet track. **Intermediate *and Advanced training session will most probably go ahead if the coach is happy with the conditions. In this case sessions will be limited to "tempo" exercises, ie those that involve consistent speeds, and traveling in a straight line."
It was my understanding that last winter, with some sections of the track likely to stay damp even after a dry Friday evening (and before the lines were sanded down for more grip) it was decided not to bother at all, but from the above, it would seem that a bit of morning dampness shouldn't be a problem. I guess the ultimate advice is to keep your eye on Twitter updates!

Track bike for the track?
How absurd.
-

Is it better than the planet full carbon bike for £700 though?there is very little to go on online, no reviews etc. very annoying.
-
• #41
I would buy the Seta over the PX any day. Better frame, better spec..

Read the Velodromeshop.net thread before ordering from them. Lots of horror stories in there. I have no experience, just saying, read that then decide.

This really is not an issue. Any of these bikes will be decent.
I'd personally go for aluminium.

^ this.
I built a Giant Omnium earlier this year for about 350 quid. Very happy with it. Just need to get to the track more!

custom steel frame maybe? get the right top tube length, most xl track frames max out at 585-590mm.
Colombus Max OR with a sloping down tube

I've got a Fuji Track 1.0 2011 for sale which is as new with brand new Carbon 88mm rims for sale that are still in the box (not had the time to ride it). This bike has been rode 3 times on Manchester for less than 3 hours.

Anyone have any thoughts on the Boardman track bikes? Was thinking about getting the TK Comp as my first track ride, bringing it in via Wiggle.fr - http://www.wiggle.fr/velo-boardman-tk-comp/

The Planet X stuff is fantastic. I have used their wheels when I used to do TTs. And they also price competitively and are nice guys.

If your willing to pay for a little more...
I understand this thread is a few years old, I am currently after a track bike so I continue training at Herne Hill over the winter. I have been recommended the Cinelli Vigorelli, are there better bikes for the £800 price?
Thank in advance, Paul.
