amey, I got a PumpKing Ale by Wychwood, at ASDA. I must say, that it is perfect for washing down a jerk chicken pattie.

I went to the Brewdog bar in Camden on Saturday. I tried 'Sink the Bismarck' (41%) here is the blurb from their website:
"This is IPA amplified, the most evocative style of the craft beer resistance with the volume cranked off the scale. Kettle hopped, dry hopped then freeze hopped for a deep fruit, resinous and spicy aroma. A full out attack on your taste-buds ensues as the incredibly smooth liquid delivers a crescendo of malt, sweet honey, hop oils and a torpedo of hop bitterness which lasts and lasts."
It was served as a 25ml measure and it was obviously very potent. It was lovely to sip and certainly warmed the cockles!

Got some mates coming down in a few weeks and want to take them to a few ale pubs on a Saturday early evening somewhere quite central.
At the moment I'm thinking Jerusalem Tavern, Craft Beer Co (Leather Lane) and Euston Tap as they're within walking distance.
Any other suggestions round there or a better area to head for?

There's a little crawl between old st and angel.
The old fountain - the wenlock tavern - the earl of Essex - the Charles Lamb - the craft beer co N1 (opening this Friday)
All good but different types of pub with great selections of well kept ale.
Not a lot central, and some of the clerkenwell pubs close at the weekend.
The bree Louise may have good pies but a lot of their beer is on gravity and
not always served in the best condition...

During the week it's fine but at the weekend I'm sure the Jerusalem Tavern is closed

#beersnobAh-ha. I'd forgotten about the Wenlock. Love it in there. Not a big fan of the Charles Lamb as it's a work pub.
Pissflaps re the Jerusalem Tavern being closed.

^ Delicious. The label says it's based on an 1892 recipe and this was the choice of beer for the hourly paid beer allowance...

It does have a certain old skool vibe. The regulars can be supremely friendly & unfriendly both at once.

Lovely work, they look smashing. You're friends are going to love it.
Good skills using the parti-gyle technique too... very old school - did you and your assistants get smashed on the "small beer" that followed the barley wine? :-)
Try harder!
;-)
