  • I'm selling a M3L on behalf of a friend. Thread here.

  • Over 500km on my Brompton in the last 5 days in the midi-pyrenees and I'm more in love with the bike than I have ever been.

Only modifications were some bar ends from Condor and the old Fizik Arione from my winter fixed.

  • got a spare ti brompton going if anyone is interested, 2008/2009 s2l-x with blue titanium post, 2 choices of levers, brooks B17, ergon grips marathon tyres but standard otherwise

ridden a grand total of 100 miles in 4 years i would say but i'm kidding myself that the mrs will ever give a crap and we've just bought a house so need the cash to knock walls down

    not this one but similar...

think the going used rate is about £1000 (1200+ on ebay) - anyone interested?

  • ^ that's the perfect set up for a Brompton, if you ask me (I know, you didn't).

Just managed to grind my way through the front chain ring of my M3, as Hurricane Sandy hoved into view. Brought it with me here to Philly for a month, and reminded how great it is to have a bike you can take pretty much anywhere with you.

  • I am giving up on stelvio / kojak tyres on my brompton. They look good, take higher pressure, feel good to ride, but they are so fragile... I do not make a lot of miles on my Brompton, and I had to replace the rear tyre twice in the last couple of years, not because there is no rubber left, but because the walls get damaged so easily. My ones kept getting cuts and I don't abuse my bike, no off road, nothing like this, just normal commuting. I'm back on ugly Marathon tyres now. It kills the aesthetics, but, fuck it, repairing a puncture on the rear wheel on the side of a dark road is too much of a pain.

I was given a voucher of £30 by my colleagues at work for my bday and used it to order some MKS EZY pedals, and will be using cages and straps, finally!

  • Use marker to cover the reflective sidewall to make it look smarter.

Yeah, I could do that, but it's mainly the size of them that bothers me, they are bigger, it's like going from a 23c to a 25c on a road bike, I don't like it so much...

Is this still available? My 12 year old model is tiring and I need a replacement...

I went the other way and the difference was amazing, I don't ride it a huge amount so it's all good for me.

What about just beefing up the rear and keeping the kojack on the front?

  • Anyone know of any decent grips that fit m-bars - don't like the stock foam ones?

Not special needs ergo ones - the m-bars are special enough.

    Ta.

  • I just bought some brooks ones
    http://www.brooksengland.com/catalogue-and-shop/bags/other+brooks+products/Plump+Leather+Grips/

as they're adjustable it should be ok... just haven't gotten round to putting them on yet

Not the cheapest solution, I got mine with a hefty discount

  • anyone got a spare brompton rear wheel i can buy? need a singlespeed one.

  • I've been looking at other luggage options for the Brompton front carrier.
Apparently there is a chap in Germany who makes Brompton Klick-Fix Adaptors

I've just emailed him to see if he still makes them and would be willing to sell me one. If anyone other Bromptonians on here are interested we could do a group buy and save on postage.
I'll let you know when I hear back from him.

I might be interested in the tiring 12 year old model.....

  • got a spare ti brompton going if anyone is interested, 2008/2009 s2l-x with blue titanium post, 2 choices of levers,

The ti seatposts are going for stupid money on t'ebay. You might do better if you sell it separately and bung an aluminium one of the bike.

(Also: I have that model of Brompton. It is awesome.)

  • I know someone who has those Brooks grips on their M. They complain that they don't seem to fix properly and spin about.

I think 17 years is the age at which that doesn't sound just creepy!

If you we're serious, my son has first refusal, but I'll bear it in mind.

  • What about just beefing up the rear and keeping the kojack on the front?

This is actually my current setting. I changed the rear for a Marathon the other day because the Kojak was badly falling appart. I already have the Marathon for the front but have not fitted it yet. No complains so far... (indeed it is mainly the rear wheel that suffers)

  • ^ Me too. Constant downhill :)

    Yep. Interested.

  • Also interested.

I emailed the same chap a while back but didn't get any answer.

  • i modified a rack to fit onto the front mount

  • removable?

Also is that an M stem with a riser bar or S stem with a riser?

Also wtf is that gear lever?

  • I'm fairly certain it's an S with a riser.

  • yes removable - i had a buddy weld a plate that matches up the headtube bolts, and it's an S with a riser + extended post and the gear lever is mini fork lockout lever (tis very neat and spring loaded)
