^^ How would they disappear off the electoral map? They would need to be replaced by something and there is nothing that could replace them as there is no way another political organisation could build the amount of support financially or in terms of people willing to vote for them. Even if Romney looses tonight it is still pretty likely that they will return a majority in congress and senate. At least that is my understanding.
