  • @ Dammit

You run a 58cm TT with 120mm stem?

  • Or: http://www.hongfu-bikes.com/html_products/HF-FM089-269.html

Although I don't think the 56 is large enough for me.

Thats a sexy spec list. 48 would fit perfectly too.

    hmmmmm.

  • @ Dammit

You run a 58cm TT with 120mm stem?

570mm plus 120mm zero degree on the Boardman, 575mm plus 120mm neg 6 degree on the road bike, 580mm plus 120mm neg 6 degree on the Fixed.

    Boardman feels short to me.

  • ^^^^ Wow Zdrenka, I'm quite envious of your flexibility!

    Nice looking bike btw.

  • 50 would fit me (adding 5mm to the 125mm headtube due to the longer fork).

  • I don't think its been mentioned in this thread yet, but PX are doing a Pro Carbon XLS. Its supposedly got slightly racier geometry than the disco and is BB30, tapered and £200 cheaper:

  • Yeah - noticed that the other day. Not a whole lot of information on it. Looks like BB30/PF30 too.

edit: Ah, blog post states it's BB30.

  • Geo chart or it didn't happened.

  • Scrummy.
But would it stand up to the rigours of commuting? I'm always scared of dropping my carbon bike as c/f is designed to mainly take stresses in one direction, a sideways knock can easilt break it.

  • Scrummy.
But would it stand up to the rigours of commuting posing around town?

    fixed

  • A well thought through CF CX frame tends to be a bit bullier than a CF road frame - the designers know they will get crashed and generally bashed about.

  • Not with the hill I have to go up/down each day, especially after talking to several of the nutters with fixies/single speed.

  • nice, I would buy that, but howard will beat me to it.

  • Never thought of a CX frame being better/differently designed. Good point.

  • Depends if the PX is well thought through or not :)

Cedy - I'm probably going to get a Vin Dessel so it's all yours ;)

  • well, it's not a great time for me, but if I was building a 1x10speed race bike, that's what I would get.
How big is your C'dale by the way?

  • It's a 54cm seat tube. I'm 5ft 9, 33 inside leg (or is it 31? I forget). The guy before was 5ft 11 and it fits us both.
Now i'm in a bigger quandry. Aaarrghhh
Keep the CX9 and go for weight upgrades. Or even front disc fork conversion.
Get a Merida Cross disc 4 for £850.00 (best price)
Go for a CF disc bike..

All this just for a commuter and odd weekend green laner.......................................and maybe an "over 40's/veteran old git " race or three next year.

  • How big is your C'dale by the way?

    Mine? 51cm

  • Ooooooh, look what I found whilst looking at Focus Mares disc bikes

    IwantIwantIwant.

Sram seems to have cross bikes in mind with the grips on the hoods. Most teams in the Tour series seem to use it as well as the CX boys, so I guess it must be good.

  • Would love to try out the new SRAM levers, the hood look much more comfortable than the original fatty.

  • Most of the Shimano I have used, Sora 8&9 speed, 105 9 & 10 speed, Ultegra 9 & 10 speed didn't vary much in shape, but the current 6700 Ultegra seems to be chunkier with a smaller "horn" than the previous. It doesn't take long to get used to it.

I've never ridden SRAm, but it seemed very easy to operate when they let me loose on a Boardman CX in Helfrauds.

  • Weight of the bike?
24lbs, give or take depending on the size

    Is there/could there be a bb30 version?
no, but can run FSA EVO386, which is best of both worlds.

Could there be an option of just buying the frame and fork and headset?
yes, next year's model will be available as frameset

The frames are 130 spaced – that’s correct right? Could it come in 135?
yes, next year's model will be 135mm

    The fork is a bevato?
next year's model will have proprietary cvln fork.

  • next year will be a very good year

  • dragging this back to the original topic if anyone is still looking for a bike under £1k, i've ordered a 2013 caadx tiagra on c2w scheme from evans and they have pricematched it with hargroves cycles to £850.

  • ^ Ooh, nice! Pics when it happens pls.
