That shouldn't break. The ones I replaced were resin units. Both cracked around the drain hole.
If there's any flex in it you may still want to add a bit extra support. All I did was squirt some filler foam on the floor, slap some offcuts of timber in it and then fill the gap between the timber and tray with more foam. Took around 5 minutes.
If you don't already own a filler foam gun, buy one now. You'll thank me after!
