Please could someone help me diagnose the clicks (maybe they're ticks?) that I'm getting. I have tried a lot and it is driving me nuts. I ride a seven speed freewheel road bike with no front mech.
There is a clicking sound each time the drive side crank arm and the non-drive side crank arm are at 1 o' clock and 11 o' clock respectively and when I'm pedalling with force (and standing up). It doesn't happen when I'm pedalling sitting down and it also doesn't always happen when I'm standing up. It happens on every gear.
Having read a lot, things I've tried:
changed pedals, crankset and disassembled, regreased and reassembled.
tightened handlebar and stem parts since it may explain why it only happens when standing up.
I also noticed that when it didn't happen, it was necessary (but not sufficient) to let the bike freewheel before it would starting clicking again (and vice versa). Therefore I tried replacing the rear wheel and freewheel but the problem still persisted.
I am now suspecting the BB although this would seem unlikely since I've only had it for a few months.
Any suggestions would be extremely welcomed! Thanks in advance.
