I would, but I don't have a land rover to carry all my books with me.
How many books do you read at any one time?
Anywy back to Nexus. So I'll be getting one as soon as they come out, but I have no idea what I can do about tarrifs. Presumably there are companies other than the usual Orange/O2/EE/etc from whom I can buy a monthly phoning allowance and I assume it will be a load cheaper than usual if I'm not getting a phone as well? Any suggestions as to where to look?

Aren't they the people who advertise during the big bang theory? Never realised they were a mobile tariff company; good to know advertising just washes straight over me! ;)
Had a look on the site and doesn;t seem as cheap as I'd expected though. Can I transfer my number over? I've had it for 12/13 years now.

Actually, I would like to know as well.I can move over to the £10 a month without affecting anything! Esp if everyone is saying the Nexus is going to be cheap :-)

Normally 3 - 4.
It's more a case of it being a lot easier to hoard books on a kindle in a small flat.

The giffgaff deal is the cheapest rolling contract according to this: http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/compare/sim_only_deals/# although it might not be suitable if you need lots of minutes.
If you do move to giffgaff, use an affiliate link from someone here and you'll both get a fiver of credit on your account. Does Velocio have one?

They've just changed their tariffs. 10/month doesn't get you unlimited data any more.
You have to go up to 12 or 13, can't remember exactly.
The goodybags are what you need, Minky.

I miss you too breaker. Was up last weekend, but I've been working in Bournemouth since May, Hopefully back permanently in a few months, maybe less.
I dunno about the kindle. How do you let visitors to your flat know just how academic and deep your are without shoving it down their throat without a book collection taking up a wall of your flat? What do you then do with that wall, hang a picture? Put furniture up against it? Have a study area? I just don't know.
Thanks Lard, I'll get in touch with Dave and see if he has one, that would be great.
Saadat, have a look at their front page, seems they're still £10, but poised to change traiffs soon. And whats the betting that will be exactly at the same time as the day the Nexus is available!? Might start the tariff early...

I tend not to shove anything straight down a visitors throat without first requesting.
Last time I was around your gaff, all I saw were sticky jazz mags and Triathalon magazines. Academic my arse.

They announced that the goodybags were changing last month, think it's 06-11-2012.
-
• #9389
Ah, I assume that they will change for everyone then, not just new customers. See, I have no idea how these things work.
-
• #9390
Yeah it will be for everyone because the bags last for one month, so everyone has to buy a new bag at some point in the month after they make the change.

Only spanner in these giff gaff works are if you want lte speeds, in which case you need EE. I presume you don't?

Even one take up a lots of room.
it's extremely useful when you're going away,* extremely.

The £10 a month is staying, but being limited to 1GB (and allows you to tether, as you are not going to kill their network), and they are bringing in another slightly higher rate (think £13) which will maintain the unlimited data allowance, but not allow tethering

There's no LTE on the Nexus 4. Google made the decision so they could be free from all carrier restrictions. I doubt it would be even close to the same price with LTE added.
Do you really need LTE, anyway? HSPA+ should be fast enough when you're not on wifi.

I'm thinking about which SIM-only deal to get as well. Here are my thoughts...
From 6th November GiffGaff (who use O2) will be:
£10 for 250 mins + unlimited texts + 1GB mobile internet (tethering allowed)
£12 for 250 mins + unlimited texts + unlimited mobile internet (tethering not allowed)(GiffGaff did a consultation on their price change recently and you can find a slide show on this page.)
Virgin (who use Everything Everywhere (T-Mobile/Orange)) look like the closest competitor:
£10 for 250 mins + unlimited texts + 1GB mobile web
£12 for 1200 mins + unlimited texts + 1GB mobile web
£12 for 125 mins + unlimited texts + unlimited mobile webIt looks like Virgin's "unlimited mobile web" is subject to a 10GB monthly limit after which speed is reduced (during the day) until the end of the month. It's not clear from those T&Cs whether tethering is allowed on Monthly contracts (although a post from a Virgin employee in the support forum suggests that tethering is allowed). It is made clear elsewhere that tethering is not allowed on PAYG contracts.
So, given that I want to be able to tether ocassionally, I reckon I might try the £10 deal on GiffGaff and see how much data I use. If I exceed the 1GB I'll probably switch to the 12GB deal on Virgin (and hope I'm ok with the lower minutes).

I pay 15 pounds for my t-mobile sim only deal and have a fair use of 750mb on my "unlimited data". I think I am being diddled.
I may well call them and say I am leaving.

Contract btw, but sim only so no actual tie in.

Do orange even do a sim only, unlimited data 30 day contract?
Totally repped
