I tried to take a picture of the brake track, and the slight concavity. New brake tracks are obviously flat, shagged ones are very concave. These show some use but I don't know how many miles. They came on a bike which I cannibalised for the groupset, and this bike was generally in pretty tip-top condition from a guy who knows how to maintain things, so I'd happily use these wheels.
If you use Kool Stop Salmon brake pads, you'll never wear through the rims because they're non-aggressive, so it doesn't matter how worn they are. That's what I always do anyway, saves on thinking!
