Moserism get a tandem! They are a stupid amount of fun, fast, and ideal for road-trips! you can pick up bargains on ebay. Or try the tandem club of great Britain, also reasonably priced. This 1930's CB short-base wend for a very low price a week or two ago.
Bike note is my girlfriends top. I was bidding, then lost out, on this. Would have been the crowning jewel of my kit.......I think it just about sums me up.....

this his and hers Mercian touring tandem is on ebay for a BIN of £900. Considering the frame is just over £3,000 new, It's not such a bad price......

I looked at that but IIRC it's pretty small....My sense from limited searching is it can take a while to find one in the right size(s). How long did you look for yours?

We found ours in a very round-about way. Through a purchase of a Roy Manser TT bike, a conversation was struck up, it turned out they had a tandem that had been unused and in dry storage for a couple of years. They are the same height as me and my girlfriend. After seeing it, we fell in love and made them an offer.......We now have a tandem.
I still think tandem forums or ebay is best to find bikes..... even try lfgss. stick up a wanted ad see who bites. Not sure if this bargain is still up for grabs....immaculate condition, as new, Reynolds 653 Tube. 21"front & rear. Campag chorus. TA crossover chain set. Down tube index levers. 8 speed d/chain ring. Ideal for time trials & social riding. £990

That looks nice, will look for that tandem forum. Even if I can find one the right sizes then storing something this big is not easy for me. Storage can't be simple?

Where there's a will there's a way. I have too many bikes anyway. One tandem does not make too much of a difference. Some would say i have issues.

I just realised an advantage of a long rear mean all you need to get is a longer stem to compensate and it'll still fit the individual.
Need room thought.

hahahahaha!!!! i was bidding on that shirt too!! gutted when i missed out - my 8 second sniping was outdone,, properly gutted for days... this is what i'm busting instead..

I think i'd be looking for a 23" as i'm 6.1 but i have that awful feeling inside me that even with a winter build and a Stan Pike TT in line to be finished this may grow into an obsession..

Just about to invest in a couple of Panaracer Pasela TG's. Anyone have experience of putting tyres larger than 32c on Mavic G40, 40h or Mavic MA40 rims........Basically i don't know if i should get 32c or 35c tyres, any advice?

mudguards, tyres, rack and pads have all arrived........ i hope to find some time over the weekend to fit it all. it would be great to take it on a road trip down to my girlfriends parents for christmas.

Did you put on the Mafac cantis? Used them on a Claud Butler tandem ages ago, they WON'T stop you, then again, bugger all else of that era will either! Try to find the most powerful modern brake possible, 20 stone @ 40mph takes some stopping!

No didn't put them on, still sitting on my shelf. Really love the way they look........... Still using the Shimano cantis........going to try them with koolstop salmons. hopefully they will do the job.
Any pictures of your CB tandem Colin?

Just found an original 80's pic, can't scan it until New Year. It was ultra short wheelbase with straight through drive and a 60 ring, hardcore! Wish I still had it.....

I know the original owner of this bike. I can ask if it is still available. Her hiusband died, so no more use for the tandem. It was always kept in good working order -
