  • Why were you driving a Mercedes Benz with clipless pedals?

Doesn't everyone clip in to their cars?

  • Only on automatics!!;)

  • Doesn't everyone clip in to their cars?

I don't know, I don't have a car, and neither do many other people.

  • Doesn't everyone clip in to their cars?

    Cluck click every trip

  • Haha. You've started some thing here.
On another clipless one. I had my bag lifted from a pub the other week , containing a right hand crank with a shimano m520 spd connected. Does anyone out there have a set where the left one's fucked and the right ones ok?I still can't bring myself to throw away the left pedal. Or if you see a one legged cyclist(right leg) riding in a polo gear with a fsa crank don't trust them!!!

  • I voted no, but I was only a few milliseconds away from doing so which sent panic through the group of riders who'd just pulled up next to me at the lights :D

  • Another zebra crossing clipless fail this morning, unclipped my right foot at the last minute as someone was taking alot longer to cross the crossing that expected, and for some reason tried to but my left foot on the curb, even tho i'd unclipped my right.

    fml.

  • I kind of fell one of the first times with them, but I think it was more to do with the rapid leg cramp that came when I was cycling home from track training. I think the cramp was a mix of saddle too high and not enough warm down. /csb

  • I moved to TIme Atac Aliums yesterday, done about 15 miles on them so far, have not fallen off yet, did nearly come off, was trackstanding and I got distracted and tried to dismount just by pulling my foot off, luckily I managed to recover and unclip both feet.
There is still plenty of time for comical falls..

  • A couple of months ago I bought a set of Shimano clipless pedals. They are still in the box. About a month after I learnt to ride I was persuaded to use toe clips & straps. That's the way it's been for many years since, apart from the times I've had a mountain bike and used flat pedals. I'm currently trying to justify a reason to fit them and learn to use them. I'm hoping it would be an easy transition, as I'm obviously used to having to get a foot out when stopping.

  • clipless is way easier than clips and straps imo

  • i just bought some sidi dominators.

  • ive been on my first set of spds for about 300 miles now, few close didnt clip out episodes but havent fallen off yet, easier than clips or restraps bar only having sideways out cleats atm, im so used to twisting up n sideways to get out of my straps, defo give it a go

  • will know soon enough

  • yeah everybody was praising it so thought always worth a try

  • clipless pedals stopped me falling off. I used to fall off when I wore straps, and couldnt reach down to undo them in time.

  • No. The sales-guy was cool when i bought my first spd's, though he alluded that I would stand a good chance of bailing if I didn't take it seriously.
I did however fall on my ass, when stopped and leaning(w/ feet in toe-clips) on a lamp-post waiting for a light. Took my other hand off the bars to zip my jacket, bars turned themselves, front wheel rolled, and down we went.......lesson learned......don't wait for the light.

  • lesson learned......unclip while approaching a light.

    .

  • A loose screw on the bottom of one of my keo cleats almost sent me into falling into traffic about a week after i started using them for touring. Couldn't get the cleat out of the pedal. I was just spinning the cleat off the shoe, if it wasn't for a save from my buddy behind it would have been messy.

Moral of the story always upclip to the left so if you do fall it's not into traffic!

  • i can proudly pronounce that i fell.

  • how n why ? i came proper close the other day doing an almost stopped turn on the pier, just grabbed the rail in time

  • i was practicing, when i was outside my house, completely forgot why i went out for (to practice) then forgot i was using spd...slow mo and laughed at myself..along with some other people who laughed at me

  • ace hahaha i practised inbetween the door frame so if i went i could grab something, ive still got mine set on the lowest, theyre only cheap shimano mtb ones, any tighter involves a good leg fling to get out and doesnt give much chance of saving a fall, already shattered my wrist once, dont fancy it again

  • uh oh, its that time again
