New alternative to carbon?

  • Don't think it will hold up in the rainy london weather...

  • locking it will be interesting

BluTack it somewhere out of reach perhaps?

  • Apparently it's waterproof.

    Paperchain?

  • Major repost but still very cool!

  • I made a hat out of bread once.

  • Ha I made a curtain out of beef and a dress out of bacon.

  • I polished my shoes with the oil from my nose.

    You swapped genders?

    Apparently it's waterproof.

    Is it fireproof?

I predict a new London sport--torching cardboard bikes.

  • Waterproof...

    Fireproof...

    Who cares?

Hardly proof against theft. Nevermind taking bolt croppers or or an angle grinder to it.

  • Would be nice if, instead of locking up, you could just fold it up into a Sainsbury's bag for life.

  • Would be so easy to steal.
Just cut it in half, slip it out of the lock and then duct tape it back together :)

  • "And because it is made of cardboard, it will also be cheap. Gafni’s business partner Nimrod Elmish told Reuters that he expects the bike to sell at retail stores for $20."

    Excellent, at last, a £12 bike !

Let's try and budget this breakthrough.

    Tyres £1 each (£2).
    Inner tubes? 50p each (£1)
    Saddle £1
    Pedals - 50p each (£1)
    Front brake calliper - £2
    Brake cable - 50p
    Frame - 50p
    Forks - 50p
    Cranks - £1
Chainring and chain (or equivalent) - 50p
    Wheels - £1 each.
Seat-post, stem, headset, handlebars, grips, break levers, bottom bracket - 50p
Labour, manufacturing costs (including wages), paint job, bolts, chain/belt, hubs - 50p

Seems reasonable enough to me, £12 for a working bike, I just hope they can deliver this without cutting any corners.

  • All the finishing parts and tyres are made of penny sweets.

  • funny how it never was said "its light"
this, and the fact that tyres are solid may mean thats its bloody heavy

    also, dibs the spokk
