So Podium has two tie breaking factors, opponents points, and opponents goal difference.
So firstly it doesn't drop the top and bottom opponents. I think that's a good thing. If you play 1 top team, and 4 bottom teams, why shouldn't the fact you played that team be counted.
I'm a statistical dunce, but at most Swiss tournaments I've played as part of a middling team and we always seem to get one top team and one new team. Before the move to limitless goals, it'd almost always be 0-5, 5-0. Is that why Challonge ditched those games?
It still seems silly to get rid of 2/5ths (generally) of the available information so I'm sure podium's way is better.
From the outside looking in, Challonge seems much more reliable though.
