Been meaning to get to Chicago for a frame for ages, they're meant to be OK.
-

You mean the one in Mosley? I might strip it myself first and see how that goes. A test patch today came off very easily
-

Mossley, yeah. Not that I've ever used them, but others have.

Bit late to this, but I've heard North Manchester Powder Coating are good..
The trouble is, their phone number no longer works. Does anyone know what happened to them?
In the end, I got my frame done by Stockport Powder Coating, but it was expensive (£60), and I'm not convinced that they cured it properly, as the coating is very easily scratched.

I think they moved somewhere a bit further away.

NMPC moved out to Royton and changed their name to match. It's fecking miles away too.
They even have a website now

What are you on about. You make us sound like real hillbillies. Royton is an easy 40 mins from Town! (A lot nearer than Mossley) If you like I can drop off and collect items for you.

What are your prices like for a frame and fork for powder coat and stove enamelling? It'd need current paint stripping first.

gawd, that website is terrible!
Thanks for the info, tho. I might give them a call when I decide on a colour for my other bike. :)

I would also like to know prices. I'm due to get a cinelli vigorelli 2012 and want to get it resprayed if the price is right.
-
• #12
You realise most of the value of a Cinelli bike is in the name 'Cinelli'. You are really going to paint over that? I mean, you could get a dolan or saink for £100 if you're just going to rape it.

plus cheap powder coating is 20-30GBP.
-
• #14
No I was gonna put cinelli decals over the the top of the new colour but to be honest the blue/white is actually quite nice. I wasn't sure I would like it.

FWIW - I asked around at the track and was told that Chicago Coaters in Mosley is best place to go, goes with first reply in thread.

Just rung up Chicago and said powder coat is £20. Sounds a bargain but anyone actually had one done by them they could talk about? What was quality like?
Chicago shot blast and coat. Royton say they won't blast it, only coat it.

I've seen a black road frame done by chicago, seems OK, also Chan has had one or two done there. I don't think it's ever going to be top quality but there are no problems and it's far from a bad job.
-

I've only heard good things about Chicago! Would use them myself!

I plan to when I have a few quid spare.

For 20 quid and if you guys say they are good, it's a no brainer. Taking my Merckx strada os to them this Friday. All white or midnight blue. Can't decide

Neil orrell in new moston will enamel paint one colour for £90. A well known builder and worth an alternative to powder coat for a paint respray
-

Looking for someone in Manchester to strip and coat my cannondale track, plus maybe a stem and cranks
Anyone know someone good and local?
