there was a guy contemplating selling his road bike, but he was humming and haa-ing about selling it. one of his emails sounded like he had decided not to sell, with a comment of "i am not sure i really want to let go of it but might do if someone showed me the money"
i then googled for pictures of cash, totalling the amount that had been discussed and sent him an email just containing the images
i got the bike

yeah, bus drivers are at your mercy if you take the wheels off and refuse to give them back

One time I joined a forum I had to post three times on and wait 24 hours before I could post in the wanted threads looking for a particular not-very-rare frame just because I liked the paintwork.
True story (eventually)

I vividly remember the year in which I decided to experiment with 172.5mm cranks...with absolutely hilarious results. We all laughed at great length over that one. To this day, I still sniff the unwashed trousers I completely drenched with piss in fits of giggles.

I met an attractive female in london. everything was going well. Only problem was we were in Brixton and she lived in stoke newington. I had my bike. She said leave it locked up outside and come home with her. I refused and cycled home 20 miles in the rain.

I went on a ferry to england to pick up a bike, then got a train to london and then came back the next day. Very stressful and long trip for a bike.

To get started and btw this was the original inspiration for me to start this thread, here is my wild goose chase story:
So I like old english made bikes such as old sunbeams and humbers ect and I saw one on ebay for a great price. Pick up only. Its in somerton just outside yeovil and I am in bournemouth, I thought ok I can set out on saturday morning, get the train to yeovil busk for a few hours with my accordion and make up the money for travel and some of the bike then get the bus to somerton as there is no train station in somerton.
anyway... had a nice afternoon busking in yeovil with my friend who came and it became time to get the bus to somerton, picked up the bike and went back to the bus. This is when it all starts to go wrong, the guy doesent let the bike on the bus even though there were all of 3 people on board. Im originally from a pretty out in the sticks place and had always been alowed a bike on a bus. So I thourght alright I will cycle back to yeovil then get a train, my mate got on the bus as he had nothing with him. I start out and it gets dark, alright thank god for sturmey archer dynuhubs... tire blows out.... hmm, its pitch black so I stop in the nearest town, Illminster. Alright then So I have to stay here the night, costs £50 in the only hotel :(((((( next day cycle to yeovil after getting a new tube. I should point out here that the tires have bulges due to age so riding this thing is like riding on square wheels. Anyway sounthampton which I have to change at has engineering works/has exploded/had a time portal engulf it. The result was me getting back to bournemouth at 5:44 pm.
All in all cost me £100 for the journey and £90 for the bike and wasted a whole weekend instead of about 6 hours as expected. :( Not my finest hour..... but I guess I have a humber :) AHHHH YEAH!
