Front hydro, love it. At tournaments i will carry a spare though..
But ask for removable canti bosses aswell? In case the shit hits the fan and you need the option of v's.

Who plays in the rain now anyway?

OK thanks guys I'll stick with V-Brakes, especially since I travel a lot with the bike, and I like to throw it in its pad-less bike bag and hope that it survives the flight

Here is my first prototype, made by sammy from Mother fucker.
The one i was talking with you guys few pages sooner.Sloppey feel really nice, really rigid when im "en danseuse" to get speed. The whole bike feel more rigid than my old kona. he's pretty light, around 10.5 kilos with this set up (i lost a good 500 gr witn my Trial set up instead of the old MKE guard).
Finally i can't put my kona fork on him, so i took manu's pompino one. No v-brake on the original project fork, and less offset. The on one put my BB 1.5 cm higher than on the plan.(31.5 cm)
The wheel base is short and the bike nice to handle, I found it pretty responsive. Way easier to play in front of the the wheel.
The issue is toe overlap, i get some, around 1,5 cm i think, with 170 cranks. Nothing really unplayable, but just enough to get small trouble with endos if im not used to. I think im gonna go throught that pretty quickly, but i would have a make it 1 or 2 cm top tube longer to avoid that.
Saddle position: no offset on the one i found first, i will put something with 2.5 cm (less or more) to be more on the back soon.

that looks pretty tidy clem, nice work! 700c for a smaller guy is hard to get right, but that looks good..
also i'm going to start shouting "en danseuse" at polo!

You have much less rotational weight with discs
It's usually around 10-30g per rim from what I've seen.

toe overlap is something you get used to very quickly. When i started riding my pompino initially i thought it was a huge deal, now i don't notice it
-
• #9361
I used to hate it, but then I got a bike without it and don't notice it anymore.

just because i haven't got a fancy custom built bike doesn't mean you have to gloat.
-
• #9363
looks awesome clem! gotta try that out

just because i haven't got a Peruvian iron gate doesn't mean you have to gloat.

just because i haven't spent more on a frame than most people do on bikes doesn't mean you have to gloat.

For me the small toe overlap is only an issue with to tricks: the endo and a bunny hop with more than 90° turn. Every time i make these moves i put my frontwheel at 90° and my left pedal horizontaly, this make me touch my wheel when im nosewheely or in air, and often block my rotation and can make me dab. I saw yesterday that i can make these while putting my heel lower than usual, and the angle make my foot going thru. So not a big deal at the end.
Lukas i think you will like this bike, few tweeks on it (maybe for next prod) and it will be a really good tiny 700cc "fanfreluche" bike.

Looks awesome. Love the simplicity.

plan here: the fork is different, here that's a kona, and in real that's an on-one, bit higher and 2mm more offset.

Just been listening to an interview with Charge bikes head honcho & there was a very brief mention of a new polo bike.
Could well be a good contender for a well priced off the shelf frame

what interview was that?
maybe he was inspired after listening to cosmic talk at dm, he was in the room with us.

Just to let people know, there are currently TWO loaner bikes that need parts to be built up. If anybody can spare any of the things listed on the thread please let me know.

It was the cycle show radio blog thing, he didn't mention it direct, the interviewer mentioned it in a way to suggest they'd already been talking about it

Yeh, we were there talking earlier on, which I think is what the interviewer was hinting at. I don't remember the Charge guy actually saying they were developing a frame in his talk. The Charge guy came across as a very profit driven businessman, so I'm sure they would if the market was there but right now I don't think he'd go near it.

That does look pretty tidy. How do you rate those dropouts?
If people want cable disc these are by far superior:

And with post mount discs it takes 20 seconds to align and set them up.
Still not sold on v brakes might as well run a magura if fbo
