Yeah, Pobocops were on fire all weekend, Robert and Shadowman were amazingly fast and accurate, no-one had a chance against them. Johanna held it down really well at the back. It would be hard to pick between either of them as MVP, and there were some really good individual performances from the others Germans, and Simon Says.
If those two get an awesome third (Johanna will be playing with Anna), they could cause some serious damage at the Euros/Worlds and other tournaments next year.
Simon Says were also awesome. They played a blocky game, but it was very effective, they were clinical, very solid at the back, and dominated most of their games.
Also a shoutout to Octoberfist, Eddy had been quite, erm, relaxed, on the first day, but turned it on for the elim, first taking us out, then knocking Simon Says into the losers bracket, but came up against a strong Giessen team, unlucky to lose to them, then lost to Simon Says the second time round in the sharp end of the losers bracket, again it could have gone the other way. Phil was also awesome for them, with Fabian holding it down.
Smoking paint also looked good, Jacob, Benji and Thomas linked up well, they played much better than their results suggested, always attacking, passing, shooting, just didn't go their way.
On a personal level Sunday was frustrating, after a postive Saturday.
We first played Octoberfist, which was closer than the result suggested, once we went down we were chasing, let in a few silly goals, but you can't give Eddy an inch.
Then we played Büppel in the losers bracket, were leading by 2 goals, they came back to win 3-2 golden goal. That was really frustrating for us, but well done to the boys, they had two kids, probably 14-15ish, who were awesome, really fast, and amazing shots, one of them scored a couple from well into his own half in games I watched, one was from just outside his own D, went in the air across the whole court, and dipped down just into goal.
I then got picked up by Team Green (Raul & Tycho).
We were well beaten by Bike Syndicate, another good up and coming Germany team to watch out for, and in the losers bracket we came back from 3-0 down to lose 3-2 to Polo Phonies (the other Amsterdam team), we almost equalised in the last minutes, but it just wouldn't go in.
So 4 games, 4 losses on Sunday, but they could have easily been very different.
Amsterdam did an awesome job as hosts, the court was a great size, they had lights, the only downside was a camber which sucked the ball into the sides, in combination with the rounded corners, that led to lots of passes along the sides and round the back, but the best players turned that to their advantage.
The facilities were great, a club house with toilets, storage, and a bar, hot and cold food too.
All in all, a really fun weekend, I'd recommend for more London people to go next time.
