Mr Hovis.. That link on handlebar wrapping is no working.. Which I was searching since I'm trying to make some Almarc style bar wraps. First efforts are promising, in patent black on cinelli retro's.. I am going to go over to the classifieds this week, get out my first offerings, and get some feedback. I'll do this unless someone tells me otherwise? I have black and dark brown leathers, and a very heavy black suede to work with at the moment. Maybe someone really keen will just PM me? First dibs is free, then £10 for next few pairs on this forum only. Hard to find right (proper Almarc style) leather, and am still learning the best stitching & sticking methods really. A new thread size will do the trick for me now,

Best guide for any budding mechanic that I have found is Park Tool's, Park Tool Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair.
Clear and concise and is not half as much of a Park Tool advert as you might expect. It is full of color pictures and it is all done in step by step guides, pretty much everything about replacement and repair is in there.

Any good views on headset installation?

If i can borrow a headset clamp tool thing i might try doing it myself

Anyone know of a good discussion of methods for removing a frozen bottom bracket? Have heard many a suggestion, but with an aluminium frame I don't want to rush into it, and would like to see some rational evaluation of the best way to go.

Hi, just joined. Apparently I need to make 3 contributions before I can post a question of my own. In the meantime does anyone have a view on what sort of brake levers I should use when I convert my old track bike for road use? Top of bar or on the drops?

whatever is more comfortable for you. if you're going with flat bars or bullhorns, brake levers on the top of the bars is the way forward.

or even, aero levers on bullhorns

its pretty easy to do with a bit of wood and a hammer. you can also knock up a tool pretty easily from threaded rod and washers.
