What a triumph. Well done to you and the police.
Yes, one of the biggest problems for the police is that they can trace so few bikes, so make sure that you make a good report. (I personally think a 100% reporting rate would be preferable to the 'preventative database' approach, as there are so many similar bikes (frame numbers can be removed) that it's often easier to identify stolen bikes from reports than from everybody entering their bike information beforehand. Obviously, you'd need to be prepared to make your report and have all the info to hand just in case.)
