• Another '75 vintage here. Partial to a bit of rowing. Qu'est-ce que vous avez dans l'abri?

We used to have Olympic champion rowers staying at my house when I was young. They were reallly tall. The only bike for tall people I have kept is this one.

I keep this for tall visitors, no ones been too tall for it yet. Plus they get to carry the shopping back in the basket.

just checking and this is closer to a 65 than a 75 but its still fit for a rower

  • Nice seat. The wife gets to watch my bum, the littl'un does not. Lucky boy.

I'm 22, polish and have a big love for once-top-class-now-fucked-up-beater.

Are you are going to run out of bikes soon ?

No polish bikes, but a once top class now fucked up beaters are truly special.
If you ride every day, why ride a shitty bike?
when I lived in a city I rode the below.
It had plastic rain guards which I could attach in seconds if the forecaste was bad, and two sets of wheels for when spokes broke I had a spare. both Normandy red label luxe competitions, Very fast rolling. Light Vitus 181 tubing but stong enough to hop up/down curbs.
Single speed up front so I didn't have to adjust the fd.
cruising bars, but with a two mtb levers, for fast stopping always a hand on a brake.
Its looks like just another crappy peugeot so never got stolen, but really it was a very efficient and reliable bike.

56cm, so I can jump on and off it quicker. also it fit's in the boot of a twingo two wheels off. 60cm bikes require a seat down.

in action. her left hands on the front brake

maybe by page 4 or 5.

1955 and tall? ouch I am going to struggle here as there dont seem to be any tall 50 year old bikes in the south of france. I sold a 1955 bike on sunday, so I will have to go with this green one that I am keeping.

Its a brazed frame, vitus tubing, tubular tyres on maxi hubs.
I think it is rather special but have not researched it fully yet. I have set the seat and bars in the same place as my 60cm bikes so I can ride this, the front derailleur is a joy to use.
alu bar and stem, and the deraileur works the other way, push forward to go into a climbing gear. Bizarre! I love it.

  • Hehe cool thread and a nice collection!
Someones got to ask, how many pages approx can you keep going? :)

I like quetzal green. I also like bits and pieces of titanium.

The one above is quetzal green? here's another green bike, this one is around 70 to 80 years old. Its set up a single speed for friends to ride, the geometry is pretty fun. sorry no titanium here. how many pages? I dont know! I'l only do 24 hours worth, will stop tomorrow before lunch.

  • So much fun. I am originally from America, what do you have for me?

  • So much fun. I am originally from America, what do you have for me?

Never really see anything american here, but I have sent many items to america including this bike... expensive postage

Well, this scott is american right? Its pretty big and not much use offroad.

  • no for me it's bling all the way, i'm 36, only like green, and pour EPO on my weetabix

I am running low on green, but bling all the way? easy.

Simplex SLJ gold, with mafac gold.

I dont really like the light blue and gold, and have only ridden this once.

  • Hahahaha.great thread OP.
A true n+1 to the core.
    Chapeau!

  • ^^you even got my size right. I dooooooo like the blue and gold. Dibs!

    Chapeau!

    The Chapeau bike.

The worst thing about my n+1 problem is that I keep finding places to stash bikes. This spring I built a 24m² barn in my garden

I saw a cool NOS cycling hat at the village carboot sale for 5 euros. Unfortunately The bike was 5 euros and it came with the hat.
So I brought the damn bike, sold the derailleurs and brakes cheaply and here we are, another worthless bike to shove in a corner somewhere.

    (Chapeau is hat in french)

  • 1979, Australian.

    Whatcha got?

  • that's simply awesome, so...
    1987, italian, anything darkish

  • subscribed! zupa thread.
1983, Malaysian, used to be fat and slow, not getting slimmer and faster.

    Whatcha got?

This was a bike I used to ride all round the area, Its kind of a beater road bike. Rode it to the Dauphiné Libéré to watch contrador, 150km round trip. Those were the days, plenty of free time. When I put the turbo seat on,it was like new.

    dark and 'new' - difficult.

I brought this Pinarello frame recently, Its Italian and It could be 1987, I need to research some more.

The paint job is a local raceteams and its very well done. I would love to get this professionally painted, thats why its not built up. 1987 was the last year the tour de france was won with toe clips.

Bonus, 1987 ventoux ITT and Phil liggett

  • I started off thinking you were slightly mental, now, I think you are mostly genius!

    Well done, sir! :0)

    Any small, niche, English builders?

1983 Simplex SLJ aero dynamic. Great derailleurs, the frames my size and the paints good.

But, its not a real Gitane. This bother's me greatly.

What the original owner did was, take his frame and try and make it like this TDF winning bike. It is a repaint. Its close, appart from the cable routing was only used before that style of stickers. Which is not right, so I have not ridden it yet.
Either I need to get over the fact its not original and ride it, or find out which frames had curved rear brake bridges, simplex dropouts, chrome rear, 3 eyelets for rear brake cable routing, braze on fd and if the serial number system checks out. No luck yet

As I buy in the south of france, I dont have anything special that english. This is a small french F souvet

This bike is small and an english collector wish's to buy it. Its far to small for me and letting friends ride it to the shops is a waste of a 50 to 60 year old ligth weight. I am trying to negotiate a swap plus money for something more my size.

I just put it together to show and feel the geometry.

  • ^^you even got my size right. I dooooooo like the blue and gold. Dibs!

I am obviously addicted to buying bikes. To stop me becoming a hoarder I decided to make sure my collection was rideable, ie all my size. So I have been trying to see all the frames that dont fit me, doesnt matter how nice.

But now I am hoarding 60cm (ct) bikes, and there's too many. I have 9 Peugeots in my size and I brought this the 10th the other day Its a PS10 (Main triangle is Reynolds, plus the fork.) I might fly with it to england tomorrow and if someone wish's to buy it they can

Stronglight 49d, mafac brakes, simplex, normandy wheels (or mavic,) tub or clinch you choose and I have a post and saddle.

  • Depending on the price, I would be interested. 700 clinchers would be my choice. What's the deal.

But the fact is I love so many of your bikes.... if people are in the area can they buy from you? And then ride home.. .wooohooo!

  • I'm thinking about riding to your place, camping in your garden, and rooting around your stuff!
