Bike porn

Sounds like you're after something like the Salsa Cowbells. I've ridden entire races in the drops with them with no problems. They've got a bit of flare in them though, so perhaps a bit less suitable for a road bike.

Flare does not make it any less suitable on a road bike, I actually think they make it even more comfortable to stay on the drop without your wrist hitting the top of the bar.

(they aren't actually 'spotter bars' / bontrager ssr vr-c, any standard compact drop should sort you out, I use FSA wing pros which have a closer shape to the above than the bontragers)

I really don't like the Bontrager anymore, the bend is awful to hold onto when on the drop.
