• Looking for a nice example of a hi flange campy record rear hub for a screw on freewheel. I've been let down by naff ebay purchase - I know - hindsight is a wonderful thing. I've also picked up a very early one, but the cups in that one are totally shot.

Not so bothered about the look, but they need to roll campy stylie.

Failing the above, if anyone has a set of cups, that would give me a shot at salvaging one.

I have rim and spokes. So I'm a couple of hours away from hitting the road on a new wheel once I have the hub.

    Thanks

  • Did I meet you outside LMNH last week bemoaning your lot and bad E-Bay sellers. Either that or it was someone else with the same problem

  • Yep! That'd be me. Things are looking up. Have sourced factory new inner races!! I drifted out the ones on that hacksawed / hand filed monster you saw and put it together with nos spindle and cones. It rolls factory smooth now. Am sourcing an aluminium spacer to compensate for the 'mod' and intend to build it. Just worried about the integrity of the shell. It may fail... Or may go on forever.

I am also going to recondition the other old one I sourced. Will see if I can find a puller tool to remove its cups. It's a very early version with no 'Record' engraved on the barrel. 50 to 60 years old! Super rare with straight skewer leaver. So would rather pull, not drift the races out of that one so as not to damage it.

It was great to meet you by the way. Sorry I was so deflated at the time. Picked up a lot since then! Amazing how a nice cup of tea can revive you.
