Having sold my track bike earlier tonight which road bike do I buy now? 1k budget
A) a light, modern second hand carbon road bike, ultimately ugly and soulless
B) a 20 year old Colnago steel bike with amazing looks and characterReally struggling here

Depends on whether:
A) You want to ride a bike because you enjoy riding
B) You want to ride a bike because you enjoy bikes -

^^You're going the wrong way.
I often back pedal as I approach junctions.
I do not want the chain to come off at this point.

I enjoy both in equal measures, I'll get the Colnago.

If it was me I'd get the Colnago as a second bike, if I had to have only one bike I'd get something modern.
EDIT depends on how much these bikes cost, also, thinking about it.

I am in New York right now and in the surrounding areas. Any bike shops I should check out that you forumers would recommend?
Anyone?

If it's the only bike and it's used for necessity other than just leisure I'd go for the most reliable one.

C) a 10 year old columbus max / brain / zona steel bike, modern fitments, stiff, rides well, and may have a lary fancy paintjob

I like fashion pretty good. I like bikes pretty good. Why is it when those two intersect it ends up looking like this*?
*which I really don't like.

I guess, probably for the same reason that even though I like art and i like bikes but when they intersect it is always this: http://vimeo.com/40507973
Which I also really don't like.

Yes, it's the frequency with which Dammit asks questions in this thread.

Want to build a cold frame for my allotment.
I've tried to scavange as much as possible but haven't found anything appropriate to form the sides. What sort of wood would be best to use consuiderign it'll be out in all weathers?
Will any sort do and the important thing is to treat it? If so what with?
There are some great deals for polytunnel kits on ebay, I would seriously consider going off the peg.

You get that much rep for rolling out tired jibes at easy targets?

Is there a specific name for this type of gusseting?
How much of an effect does it have on a frames strength/stiffness?
I was thinking headtube - underside of downtube, and seat tube - top side of top tube.

Where can one get those bungee cord things in london?
-
• #36322
For a rack? Pound shop, although I'm sure that Evans or cycle surgery would be able to sell you a hideously overpriced bike-specific one.
